It's too bad there isn't a program where one could go to Montreal, take a huge crash course in French, and then get in that way, somehow. Seems if I knew french on some level the point system thing wouldn't be a big deal at all. I'd pass.

Just wanna get to Quebec to be with my boyfriend. We're just not at the point of getting married yet. Blah.

There are loads of ways to learn French before going to Quebec.

Is your fiance Francophone? If so, it is a perfect opportunity to learn. Otherwise, try the Alliance Francaise. They have branches in most major cities in the US and all over the world. They offer courses for beginners and can hook you up with a tutor who can tailor instruction to your needs. Also try Craigslist. There are usually students from French-speaking countries who are more than happy to tutor to earn a few extra bucks.
