According to the latest statistics brought out by the immigration department of Canada, the outcome has been good from the skilled worker program. An assessment was conducted of the latest statistics with the pre-2001 statistics. This was before the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) was introduced. This act stressed more on the arranged employment offer, education as well as the skills in language.
As per the recent statistics, there has been a hike by about 65 percent in the income levels of the skilled workers in Canada after the IRPA was introduced. It was also determined that there have been fewer chances of these skilled migrant relying on employment insurance or social assistance. This has been especially after the new laws had been introduced.
Jason Kenney, the Immigration Minister for Canada said that the assessment projected that the skilled migrants have been doing well in the nation and are able to contribute to filling gaps in the national workforce. He also said that the government is happy to see that the program is giving out the expected and the desired results.
The other aspects included in the evaluation were recommendations regarding how the immigration system of the nation would be further enhanced. These recommendations include giving higher priority to young workers, stress on proficiency in either English or French language and raising the integrity of the system of arranged employment so as to avoid fraudulent involvement.
This would be followed by the immigration department of Canada to launch a range of fresh proposals for the consultation of the public. This would be brought about as an effort to bring about more improvements in the system. The Minister mentioned it as a commitment made by the government to bring about amends in the next few weeks.
