Landing while sponsor remains out of country

I apologise if this has been asked before.  I have tried searching topics but have had no success.

My partner is thinking of flying from the UK to land and returning to finish the sale of the house.  Since I am his sponsor, do I have to fly back with him?  I know as part of the sponsorship agreement that I have to move back to Canada when he moves but for the visit for the purpose of landing, I wasn't sure if I would be required to be there.  Would save us some money if he can go alone.  Does anyone have any experience with this situation?  Any help would be appreciated!

I landed without my husband -my sponsor. He waited at the border town with our kids, and we've been back in teh US together for a month now waiting as well for the house to sell. He will however, move in about a month as he's secured a job back in Canada.
