Hi , I have got landing papers and immigration visa and am planning to land in october 2009, the canadain high commission has asked to take CAD$10,833/- along with me at the time of landing. My question is it mandatory to take CAD$10,833/- at the time of landing ? and can we take the equivalent amount in any other currency such as pound sterling. Further i have read some where that carrying more than CAD$ 10,000/- is illegal please guide me on this subject

regards

Sterling, Euros, $, Yen as long as it is convertible you can use it for settlement funds.  It is not illegal to carry it , you must ensure that you report the amount to Customs on "landing" and it has to meet or exceed the required settlement funds.
