Landing Question pls answer

Hello Everyone again,

Im planing to land next week and we will drive to ottawa from new york.My brother and his friend will give me ride to there. They both US citizen.

 Last time my brother and his wife drove to montreal, when they get to border just showed the passports and drove in to canadian side. They said there were only gates and show passport and go. when i picked up my passport the immigration officer told me when i get to border i need to go office and they sign the copr peper front of the officer.

My question is when we  get to border next week how they do this at the gate or what. i got little confused

Hi yanik34,
When you reach the border, you have to tell the officer that you want to complete you landing procedure. Officer will check your passport and COPR and will give another form and will instruct you to go to the other building. In that other building, they will ask you to sign COPR in front of the CBSA officer and will take your address to deliver the PR card.
