Do I need a bank statement or can I just bring cash when I land? Is this mandatory? I am only staying for a few days and not moving till this summer, can I just bring like $100?

No, you don't need anything like that.

If at any time you are bringing more than $10,000 into the country, you must declare it.  Otherwise, you needn't show any proof of funds to land.

As you are in FAM Category, no one is bothered about POF. At the Canadian  boarder, while crossing the officer may perhaps ask you whether you are carrying any excess funds over CAD 10,000/- and as usual about any goods, tobacco, alcohol etc.
