Hi...

Can anyone tell me how common it is to be able to apply for a SIN during the landing process?  Is this generally part of the process...at least at the larger airports and border crossings?  I plan to "land" and then return immediately to the U.S., but I wanted to apply for a SIN while in Canada.  Should I allow more time to find a Service Canada office in the city? I will land at either the Toronto or Vancouver airport. Thanks!

You need to go to Service Canada office and you need an address for the card to be mailed.

no, you cannot apply for SIN in the airport. you need to go to Service Canada office. there  is always at least one of them in the city/town. they will give you a paper with SIN number as a temporary one, the card itself will be mailed within 10 days to Canadian address provided by you.
