I do not know if you have to notify CIC, but I suspect that you do because TB is a notifiable disease in Canada. TB is part of the medical test procedure, Canada checks TB for good reason. I am not a medical expert, if your daughter is contagious it must be possible (however unlikely) that you or other family members may have been infected. Obviously you want to get to Canada, but this needs to be dealt with in accordance with any rules the CIC have and good medical practice. If you have to notify CIC, but you do not, then you could have a bigger problem to deal with. IMO Hiding this from CIC could be considered misrepresentation and as far as I know, CIC has the power to revoke your PR even after you become a permanent resident of Canada. I suspect that if CIC are notified it would cause a delay (not a refusal) to your PR while checks and treatment take place. Surely, you can call CIC without giving your name and ask a hypothetical question. Notes from Public Health Agency of Canada about TB http://www.phac-aspc.gc.ca/tbpc-latb/fa-fi/index-eng.phpNote TB is a notifiable disease. http://dsol-smed.phac-aspc.gc.ca/dsol-smed/ndis/list-eng.php

we are afraid to notify the cic as i am sure they will hold all our papers, we already quit our jobs and there is no way we can wait for long time without income. we are thinking to leave her in our home country and continue with our travel without her. when she gets well we will take her immediately. but we need your advise on this.
if we land successfully without our daughter and her visa expires, what would be the consequences?
qorax where are you?
dear send private message to qorax or start a new thread asking qorax on main forum. i agree with you to leave your daughter at home and take her later. you are right informing cic can create problems for you..

It may well be the case that informing CIC could cause a delay, but there is also a possible public health issue here. And if (yes, IF) the OP is mandated to contact CIC, failing to do so is misrepresentation, we all know that is not acceptable.

baloo, she is saying they have quitted their jobs and now its difficult for them to survive, this was planned long time ago and is a life changing experience, if the daughter stays back home, recovers and joins them in the end of april that would be ok i think.

I do understand the situation, but to sort it out properly they can call CIC without mentioning their name. No matter what the situation, and certainly with the fact TB is a notifiable disease in Canada, the OP needs to make a responsible decision, not a selfish one. I hope that there is no need for them to report it and that they can land ASAP, but there may be bigger issues here.

I hope not. Let's look at this from two sides. Good side - CIC tell them they can land without their daughter, and she can land when she is treated and well. Bad side - Isn't it better to have a delay, rather than being refused entry, or worrying about CIC finding misrepresentation when others are infected.

You may find the following link informative and reassuring. Please ask your doctor's advice on this issue. Specifically, when your daughter will no longer be contagious and able to travel. TB is treatable and your daughter will get better. Everything will work out, but you need to know HOW so you can rest, too. It would be interesting if someone was able to ask the doctor at their medical exam how this case would be handled by the VO. http://www.lung.ca/diseases-maladies/tuberculosis-tuberculose/treatment-traitement/index_e.php

Any idea how long TB is normally contagious and how long after medical treatment starts does the contagious phase cease?

Quoting from "Control of Communicable Diseases Manual", Abram S Beneson, Ed, 16th Edition: Period of Communicability - Theoretically, as long as viable (living) tubercle bacilli are being discharged in the sputum. Some untreated or inadequately treated patients may be sputum-positive intermittently for years......Effective antimicrobial chemotherapy usually eliminates communicability within a few weeks, at least in the household setting. Children with primary tuberculosis are generally not infectious.

Well that solves it them. Just get your doctor to advice you on how long it take her to be free of the bacteria. Use the drugs religiously as instructed. If it can be controlled I don't think CIC/CHC need to know however should it be otherwise then you might need to inform them. You are therefore to concentrate on getting good treatment for her. God will surely heal her!

It is still a notifiable disease in Canada. So checking with CIC (anonymously if he wants to) makes sense. The OP needs an official answer, which I hope is the one he wants.

Note the reply from Qorax. Quote from: qorax on March 02, 2011, 05:57:43 pm 1. Everyone of u must 'land' before the expiry of the PRVs - else s/he will LOSE IT. 2. U r required to info the CIC of any health issues before landing. 3. If u info the TB situation now - the CIC will STOP u from entering, until she is medically Fit.
This is a situation only u can decide.
All the best to the Kid. I'm sure she will be perfectly alright soon! Our prayers r with her & u all - the family.
Qorax
mujahko, I hope your daughter gets well soon.

Dear All,
We have a big problem, just now our youngest daughter was confined in the hospital with Primary Pulmonary Tuberculosis, she's 2 years old. We are scheduled to land on next week. If we think she can managed to travel and we intend to bring the medicines prescribed by the doctor for 6 months, is there any problem with that? Or should we not take the medicines and purchased those once we successfully land in Canada?
We are planning also not to take our daughter with us and will fetch her later but the problem is our visa will expire on 4th May 2011. What should we do, our excitement was all gone...We need your advise please!
Thank you!
Hi Mujahko, how's your baby now? I pray that with the grace of the Lord, you can land in Canada as per your schedule...I am also praying for the fast recovery of your daughter. God bless your family!
