Waiting for spring.. in my life....

The best time to land in Canada is in the spring because the spring is full of promise.  Or actually it doesn't really matter too much but you might not want to land in the middle of winter because you will be walking through the snow in minus temperatures looking for an apartment and going to government offices to get registered.  Landing in the middle of summer, kind of the same except then you may be dealing with doing the same things when it is so hot you would just like to sit somewhere close to a fan with a cold drink.

It will also depend on if your occupation is seasonal, if it is, you might want to avoid showing up during the slow season because it will be hard to get a job.

It can also depend on what you are doing currently.  If you are currently studying or bound to a work contract and you need a couple of years to finish, your PR residency clock starts ticking when you land.  In that case, landing close to your PRV expiry will buy you more time to be outside Canada.

Vancouver is the tourism hub of Canada. Definitely it's The Location for Hospitality Business... Thus there r plenty of scopes for u guys.

Any part of Greater Vancouver is good for u. However, most concentration of hotels r in the city main, not Surrey, Burnaby, Richmond etc. -though hotels r pretty much there as well, just a lesser extent.

Qorax

Qorax,

You are simply great.... Would you please help me in looking for temorary accomodation in Vancouver also ?

Thanks

How long would you be staying?  If less than one month, I would suggest a hotel.  Or else, you can search craiglist or www.rentbc.com for rental listing

From what I understand we can land anywhere regardless of what we have indicated in our application. I wrote Alberta in our application, will it be possible that I land in Toronto and give Toronto address too as our mailing and residence address? Please advise.

Thank you in advance.

A. The wise way to take landing funds is the 80-20 rule. Ie.>to carry 80% in bank Draft & 20% in Cash.
B. If the draft is drawn @ the same city - it'll be credited within 48hrs. Else, about 7-10 days (usually).
C. The CAD isn't likely to fluctuate much against the USD in the near future. Convert yours as convenient.

Hi Qorax,

Thank you so much for your information. Please help me with the following question.

I landed in Vancouver last week. The visa officer did not ask me to complete any PR card application. He just asked me my mailing address and he said that the cards will be sent to the address after 6 weeks? Is it the same procedure for you guys? Did anyone has to complete any form for PR cards? Thank you so much

Dear Qorax
Is it Required to carry the full fund (CASH+BANK Draft) at the time of land. Is it possible to carry 70% and show the bank statement of the rest 30%(that is the money is in local bank) , which may transferable at any time if required ...  ? pls reply ..

Dear Qorax,

I was trying to fill up PR application form. They r asking like last 5 years residency address, employment history etc. One thing I am not able fill up is the question 21, where they are asking "Have u travelled or lived outside of Canada last 5 years ?" and we need to provide the duration and reason for absence as well..

Since we r landing first time, is that applicable ?

Also how abt residency obligation ? do we need to fill up all these details ?

Please help me... I am flying next tuesday 7th Sep.

Thanks..
