Fido Vs. Wind Mobile
Advantages and disadvantages.............

As i know for wind : advantages are-

No contract. Yes thats the best part, no contract , not even hidden terms and conditions. There is no contract at all at any time on any plan ever.

No System Access fee

No 911 fees

Caller ID, Call hold/wait/forwarding is all included in all plans. 100% no catch or hidden fees on any of these.

Local call is province wide. Not just the city you are located in.

Wind number to Wind number is 100 % unlimited as long you are in Wind network. (On the screen you will see WIND Home. When you see WIND Away it means you are in roaming scenario)

Incoming SMS is always free irrespective of anywhere you are (Roaming, International or in home network) or any plan you are subscribed to.

As long you are in coverage area depending on your plan, you get 100% free what is mentioned on the plan

If you go out of coverage , you get charged roaming rates , which is 0.25 cents per minute for voice and if not mistaken 0.15 cents for SMS.

Disadvantages:

Customer Service is pathetic.

Secondly they do not cover GTA, infact major areas of GTA are still not covered. So if you are in GTA and not in proper Toronto you will keep paying roaming whatever charge it may be.

V have to use their handset.

For Fido advantages are:

They have 2000 Mins for $40.

Easy 1.3Hrs/Day.

Covers all GTA.

Kindly share experiences! Plz advice the best 1.

Uhh... The Wind

I'm in the GTA & I'm with Wind... Not that other Cell Networks r bad, but Wind is good.

-$45/month, Incoming & Outgoing Free.
-Unlimited Calls, Anytime of the day, 24/7.
-Unlimited SMS, Anytime of the day, 24/7.
-The above is for Entire Canada & the US, not just in one province.
-The above is also for all Networks, not just within Wind-to-Wind.
-Have been speaking everywhere, not faced any Call Disturbence yet.
-Connectivity doesn't seem to be a problem nowadays.
-The icing... For 6 months, we pay only 50%. am currently paying $22.50/month, for all the above.

Beat That...

The nearest to the above with any other Cell Provider here is $75/month, and thru a 3yr Contract. With Wind, we have no hassle of any such contracts.

By the way other company has lunch the mobile services they are calming for good coverage. "Mobilecity"
The all above features only in $ 25. actually starting from $ 15 to $65 /month, but good thing they offer basic features in $ 25 and if you add $20 / month additional you can use for India, Pakistan, Bangladesh unlimited at any time so it means only $ 45 / month and unlimited calls to home country. I am planning to buy and it will let you know the result.

Over the counter meds r available here too & costs peanuts... so I said not to bother bringing-them-in. However, u always can. Be free to get few of them... not an issue.

Hey Guys Please Answer the above ?

There's no need to fill the IMM5444E. For the 1st landing, the BSO at the POE will do the needful. U just need to provide the address & the POF.

That line in my OP was in error, I've stated that earlier.

Hello everybody,

I have a question about the address where our PR cards will be forwarded. I have federal skill worker landing papers. Can I do my landing at Toronto and then provide them with a address in Montreal (Quebec)?

Thank you for your respons!

Awesome thread qorax! Hats off to you and all who have contributed.

I have a couple of queries and would appreciate your response.

I am planning to land in July but my dependents will follow later just so I could do the initial settlement stuff, sort out proper accommodation and possibly (fingers crossed) get a job before my dependents join me in Canada. I will of course show the POF for the whole family at the time of my landing and will also inform the officer that my dependents will follow later.

However, I am assuming that I and my dependents will have to fill in our own B4s and B4As separately at our landings. Correct?

I am also assuming that only I would have to show POF for the whole family at the time of my landing and my dependents, when they arrive later, would not be asked for POF again. Correct?

Are there any guidelines for me considering my scenario?
