Hi All,

I am visiting niagara falls with my parents, wife, kid on New York side.
myself, spouse, kid will go to canada for canada landing and whereas parents will be enjoying the niagara falls from USA.

I was planning to complete landing procedure on the same day and return back immediately to USA. Within 2-4 hours, i plan to return to USA.

Do you think, the canada officer will refuse to complete the landing procedure or refuse to send the P.R. card, if the visit is for short duration.

Dear Quorax

I landed at Pearson last week. The process was exactly as you described (thanks a lot for all the information given)
During the last step of my landing, the custom officer asked me for the GTF format (B4)
When I gave it to him, he mentioned that the Jewelry part was not correctly filled (I put there some ornaments that really not classify as Jewelry and I did not have invoices or  certificates of those items)
The officer recommend me to fill again the format and to present it the next time I will enter Canada (I told him that I will be in Canada with my family for only for 2 weeks and then we will return to our country and will move definitely to Canada by the end of August)
The officer recommended me to present this format in the definitive landing.
As I know the GTF format is required to be presented in the first landing and now I do not know what to do. Is it possible that my B4 can be rejected next time?
Do you have any recommendation?

Regards and god bless you

Dear Seniors,

Got my Visa on 7th July and now I am planning to reach toronto by July 27 with my family to follow later. Need anyone's able guidance on the following -
1. How can I ensure I have some accomodation in Toronto when I land there? or making a pg/room available before i reach
2. any specific things that i must carry with me?
3. if my wife + kids come later, do i need to fill in the goods to follow sheet with stuff that they will bring with them?
4. I understand getting a job is tough. On an ave, how much time does it take? I carry 11 years experience, which I know initially is all set to zero. This question's ans will help me prepare myself mentally for tough jobless times, if I face God Forbid.
5. Any other relevant guidance... links/blogs/posts etc... will be helpful.

Thanks in advance !

Hi Quorax

I will be temporarily staying in a hostel when I land in Toronto. I do not know yet of a possible long term address. At the immig., can I give a PO Box address where my PR card will be forwarded? Will the immig officer accept such address?

Thanks Quorax...

At the Immigration Counter:
The IO here will scrutinize our Passport/s & COPRs. He would [sometimes may not] ask to see our POF. Most of the times the officer will not count the 'actual' money & accept what we say. But, no false pretensions there. S/he will then fill some portions of the COPR & ask us to sign it, wherein it'll be attached on our passport. We'll be asked to fill-in the 'PR Card Application Form' & give an address where our PR cards will be forwarded within 3-6 weeks. Thereby, s/he would 'Welcome us to Canada' and direct us to another office.

1. How can I ensure I have some accomodation in Toronto when I land there? or making a pg/room available before i reach - Look for Seneca Residences and Safehome stay for temp stay
2. any specific things that i must carry with me? - Little luggage, your paper work (certificates, references) and as much money as you can
3. if my wife + kids come later, do i need to fill in the goods to follow sheet with stuff that they will bring with them? - NO, You may want to fill up B-4 for stuff that will follow their arrival
4. I understand getting a job is tough. On an ave, how much time does it take? I carry 11 years experience, which I know initially is all set to zero. When you enter Canada, you can tell immigration that you do not have an address yet.  What will happen then is that they will hold your card for you for up to 6 months until you give them an address.  If you want to arrange an address, you can do it at UPS.  They can forward your mail to you where you are.  You can use that for your PR card and your SIN card.

If you do not arrange an address, if you wait more than 6 months after landing, you would have to apply for a PR card again when you are back in Canada to stay and it would cost you $50.  Now, you may want to know how you get back into Canada without the PR card.  You could do that just with your landing papers if you are visa exempt.  Otherwise, you would have to apply for a travel document at a Canadian embassy.

Dear Qorax, Dear Leon, Dear All,

We already received our PR in early June with the PR immigration visa attached in our home country passports and we are thinking to land forever in the early of November.

Meanwile we win the citizenship of the european country, where we are currently living. We received last week the new passports from this EU country. So, in this moment: firstly we have dual citizenship and secondly these new EU passports give us the right to travel to Canada as tourist without a visa, this is because it is a visa extemp country.

I have two important questions for you friends:

First one: Are obligated to inform the VO that we change our residence status in the country where we are living from permanent residence to citizenship, and if we do so there will be any problem with our PR?

The seccond: Can we travel the first time as tourist visitors to Canada, for two weeks during the August, with our passports of the extempt visa country and the second time to travel to Canado in November and to proceed the landing procedure with the passports of our home country that have the PR visas attached.

Thank you for your time in advance!

Dear Friends in Toronto/Seniors,

What would be the best mobile company and plan for a newcomer? I saw many sites however, am unable to decide. Please help.
Also, I have a blackberyr 8320 here in India with me. I can carry that and it would work?
