Dear Pittabread,

Already qorax had answered your question.

But unluckily you need to search on the website.....which is not level of understanding to go thru the website.

How Much Funds Can I Carry?

"There is a Minimum limit though... we must carry at least or more than what CIC requirement states, vis-a-vis for the no. of pax in the family [accompanying]. "

Besides what Baloo already suggested in your thread - I hope u have watched "Humko Deewana Kar Gaye" - Akshay 'lands'  @  Vancouver - I just watched it once again yesterday night - a nice movie - have a look  @  it, if u haven't already.

But, coming to the point: Bro, don't waste your space & time on fetching those goods. One, u'd get them all here as well; Two, learn to live w/out them (wisest move) -- that's why u r getting to Canada - else, what was wrong with "Mera Bharat Mahaan"? Learn to Change - Change to Learn !!!

Qorax

As someone recently arrived, I fully agree.
Toronto is flooded with Indian goods and let me tell NOTHING, repeat nothing in terms of food and condiments will be missed from India.
Savor the Canadian stuff instead!!

Dear Qorax,

I am travelling back via United Airlines from Ottawa to Chicago. Then Etihad from Chicago to Abu Dhabi.

My question is: Do I need a visa in entering Chicago airport (US)?

Please advise

Thanks!

Dear Qorax,

We are planning to land Canada during 2nd week of April this year and will come back to Middle East and will go permanently during Sept. this year. Why we are going during April is that we are not 100% sure that we will be able to get relieved from the present job before Sep or not. My Medical expiry date is Sep, so we don't want to take a risk. I have some doubts..

1. We do have sufficient funds for our settlement in Canada but we will take the required funds only (say CAD 25000/- max) during our first landing. My question is whether all the funds should be in CAD itself or not?. Whether we can take 5000/- as CAD and balance 20000/- as USD?. Why my question is that if it is USD, when we come back to Middle East (Bahrain) we will not loose much with exchange rates (my present country Currency is pegged with USD). Otherwise I have to deposit all the funds in Canada Bank for another 6 months which we dont want to do. Pls advise.

2. We plan to book Safe home stay (I think the name correct) for 10 days. Is it is ok or any other better option there?

3. After initial formalities we wish to see the great waterfalls and if possible Montreal as well. Hope there are tour operators in Toronto for these places.

4. Balance days we wish to see Toronto fully by taking Rent a Car. Our intention is to select the best place for our settlement with the help of all landed seniors.... We have North York, Scarborough etc in our mind at present....

5. Our family consists of me, my wife and 2 kids aged 13 and 9.

Should I look for another connecting flight from Ottawa to Abu Dhabi?

Satish

1. Yes, USD is accepted.
2. Safehomestay is OK, many on these forums use their facility, regularly (I think Thomas & Caroll should give me a cut!).
3. There r many T/Operators - however, it's easy to drive thru as well.
4. Avoid Scar(e)borough, if u can.

Yes. Try taking another route. US'd require visa/s.
