I plan to land next month, stay for a few weeks and then return to UK before moving permanently to Canada later this year. How does this affect the goods I want to ship across. Do they have to be in transit when I land or can I list now what I am going to take with me and despatch them at a later date?
Also do I need to be in Canada to collect or can my spouse collect?

Hey there, as far as I know, you have to have 2 lists while landing, list of goods accompagning and list of goods to follow along with the B4e cover letter, about the goods to follow, you are allowed to bring them after 10 years, as long as that you have mention them. I landed last week in toronto, I had the 2 list as well picture of my jewerly, the officer at the custome didn't even look at me, he took my declaration card, welcome to canada and that 's it.. Good luck

If the person being sponsored is already living in Canada, I know we have to leave the country for him to land, but I assume "goods" lists would not be applicable. Can anyone provide any insight?

No. If you want to pay customs on some items to be import later, then don't list all items.

You actually don't have to leave the country to land; you can make an appointment at your local cic office. And no, you don't need a goods list if you have nothing to import. @ Lesley...You can list your goods in categories...clothes, housewares, books, etc. List valuables like jewelry, big electronics and vehicles separately with serial numbers and appraised values as needed. And don't mind Steaky...his wit has been a bit sharp lately, ROFLMAO

That "Accounting Document Number column will be filled by CBSA Officer, who review the form. You don't have to write anything there. You should write only Importer's name, address, details of goods, value etc...
