After getting the Canadian permanent resident visa (PR), here is various post landing things which the applicant must keep in mind to have a hassle free relocation and post landing settlement in Canada. Remember as well that you can enter Canada on a PR visa through any of the three ways – Air, Sea or land.

•After arriving in Canada, the applicant would be greeted by an official from the Canada Border Agency. The applicant would be asked to show the passport as well as other legal documents meant for travel purpose. It is advised to keep these important papers handy in order to avoid any kind of delay.
•Documents which would be asked to show include passport with duly stamped visa that will permit you entry as a resident, travel documents like right of landing papers, your valid permanent resident visa, proof of your financial funds that can be used during the settlement phase and Confirmation of Permanent Residence. All these documents should be used before their expiry.
•Settlement Funds: The applicant should carry the required settlement funds as per the number of family member who formed part of his immigration application. Failure to show these funds at the port of entry may mean refusal of entry by the visa officer. The funds could be in any form, be it cash, cheques, money orders, stocks, to name a few. In addition, Applicants coming to Canada with more than C$10,000 are required to disclose the details to the official of Canada Border Agency. Failing to do so may lead to fine or imprisonment for the applicant.
•You will make an application for Canada permanent resident card at the time of first entry on permanent resident visa. You should be prepared with a local Canadian City or provincial address to which relevant documents and cards can be mailed to you.
•Make it a point to plan your first visit to Canada on permanent resident visa to be of at least 8 weeks. That is the time that it can take permanent resident card to be delivered to you. At times, there can be errors in photographs etc. and the Canadian Government may like to you reapply for Permanent resident ( PR) card or get yourself photographed again. Same situation may arise as regards Social insurance number card (SIN Card) as well. Remember that permanent resident visa is good for one time entry only. Subsequent visit requires you to present PR card for entry into and exit from Canada. In case of an error in PR or SIN Card, you will need to apply for a special one-time entry permit from a Canadian visa post located in your country of origin or the country of which you are currently resident. That means additional expense on travel for the same purpose of getting your permanent resident status validated and more critically, inconvenience. So, do  not leave Canada during the first time visit unless you have valid PR and SIN card for self and the entire family, who formed part of the your application for permanent resident visa to Canada.
The applicant may be asked few questions regarding the essentials required to immigrate to Canada. This would be done for entry officer's satisfaction that the applicant is meeting the pre-requisites to enter the country.

After clearing all the questions, the applicant will get the authority from the officer to enter the nation after confirming your mailing address. The applicant would get his or her permanent resident card by mail at his or her address. Remember that you may be landing with heavy baggage and your airport or land or sea pick-up is in place, when you get out into Canada!
