Landing Experience at Toronto Airport| Landed Finally at Edmonton 19/12/10

My Landing Experience:

I landed into Canada on Dec-19th – 2010

I took route via Frankfurt thru Lufthansa Airways. Total journey was 23 hrs. Had nice veg meals on the flight as i pre requested them for the veg meals.. One major point was that vegetarians had to inform before hand because most of the food is Non-Veg which might cause some problems. So when booking the ticket its advisable to specify the food preference. There two Air hostess are damn sexy was looking them all thru the journey. There only 1 changeover in the flight that too at Frankfurt.I had to stop at Frankfurt for 4 hrs. Nice experience at Frankfurt airport anyway its not new to me as i travelled thru this route many times.
I landed at about 4.30 in the Evening. So got the luggage and then went and stood in the first immigration counter and was waiting for my turn. . . She just asked me where I am staying and I gave a pre printed address she copied that and said the PR card would be mailed to the given address. She then asked how much funds I was carrying and I told her about 11500/- CAD. She wrote that in the landing papers and waved me though. NOTHING MUCH.

Then I was greeted by another person who gave me loads of paper and pamphlets which described what I need to do when I go about doing anything for the first time. ( Anyway I know what to be done where tobe done ). After Landing procedure, I took my luggage and moved to Connecting flight terminal. As i need to go to Edmonton. Edmonton is 4hrs journey thru flight from Toronto. I reached there at night 9:30 Pm. My friend came to airport to receive me. I went to my own apartment where i stayed before in Edmonton 1yr back. Had nice meal prepared by my frds and then had nice sleep.

The two important things that need to be done are the SIN card. Go to the nearest city center and there we can find the local govt offie and apply for the SIN card. We need to carry the original passport and the Landing papers since these are mandatory for the SIN no to be issued. I will go today ie monday to apply for SIN Card.Usually it takes 2 weeks to get the card. But they will issue you printed copy of sin number by which we can right away apply with it, until we get the original.
The next important work is the bank account opening. It's a very simple process. Normally we need to take a appointment to open a account. I willbe opening my account with CIBC. As it has many ATM brnches and moreover its a good bank, Why i m saying it as good bank bcos prteviously when i was in Edmonton i opened in this bank itself never had any complaint. So thought of going again. I will be opening the bank account on monday.My bank is very near to my apartment just 4 streets walk. Temperature is very cool here.It started snowing already.

I advise for the peopel who are coming for the first time to Edmonton , buy good jackets and thermal wears as it gonna go beyond -20c here. Families who are having children need to take utmost care abt them during winter.

Coming to Employment, My prev employer aslready given me the offer letter when i was in india, I spoke to him that i got visa n coming to Edmonton and in search of job. He immediately replied me thru email and said they are ready to offer me job. I need to join that job by 4th jan. I will be working as IT CO-ORDINATOR.
