Getting temporary medical insurance for the 3months waiting period is very advisable because the medical consultations and ER fees are very expensive.  Consultation fees will amount to $120 while ERfees will amount to at least $700.  That's quite a risk.

My auntie is a registered broker and she will be very happy to assist you.

We are three in the family and I had my quotation. The price is already reasonable for the three month coverage.  As soon as we receive the health card issued by the ministry of health, the remaining days will be refundable.  For instance, my sister got her card in 2.5months time so she was able to refund the half month.

If you want to have her contact details, please PM me.  My auntie will be very willing to help you around.  They have branches all over Canada so even if you'll just have Vancouver for a stop over, she could accomodate you.

I posted some links to apartments on my blog.  For anyone who is interested, check it out.  The property management companies there have apartments in the major cities in Canada.

Oh, and I just posted a slideshow of the first snowfall in Vancouver this Winter 2010.

Hope it helps.

Wow, what a tremendous blog!  I went to Magee High School in Kerrisdale and had to smile when you said you liked that area so much.  I have fond memories of many walks and bike rides around that area.  Yes, the first snowfall and now sub zero temperatures to come.  Vancouver Island and the Southern Gulf Islands had 15 cm (6 inches) of snow on Saturday and took out the power for nearly 48 hours in some places.  Vancouver got off lightly THIS time!
I'm looking forward to reading more of your blogs......Welcome Home!
