Hi,

I'm in a intricate situation: New Landed immigrant , wife got PR and I am waiting for PR card arrival, and wife is pragnant...what are my options now about the medical assistant?
Is this an exceptional situations and OHIP will be issued? Or any landed Immi once pregnant spcially qualify for medical assistance?

any input guys???

I think there is no other work around, instead taking your own insurance
but you can go to community center and find , there may be some assistance for such cases

And if its 1st month then mostly you don't have to spend too much on doctor visit ( its betn $50 - $60), take extra measures till you get your health card

Community Health
      
      


The Community Health Centre provides Doctors, Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Social Work, Dietitian Services , Diabetes Education and Foot Care services for people residing in our Catchment Area, with or without an OHIP card. Staff will maintain a comprehensive health record for each client to ensure that we are meeting the full spectrum of each client's need. All information is held in the strictest of confidence.

West Hill Community Health Centre provides on-call services to clients 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In the event of an emergency, a physician can be contacted to provide direction and reassurance.

The Community Health Centre also provides services in partnership with other agencies and organizations, such as the Needle Exchange Program.

The Community Health Centre purpose is to provide total health care to individuals, families and community through promotion, prevention, maintenance and treatment services.
