My wife and I had applied for Canada and was rejected because we had 66 points instead of 67 points. We would like very much to write an appeal letter to Canada Immigration Department. Can anyone of you advice whether they would accept an appeal letter or had similar experience.

We look forward for any suggestion and help in this area towards our aim for migration to Canada.

You can appeal it.  Since you applied, you have more work experience now, and you can try taking the IELTS again and try for a better score and if you know any French, take the TEF.  If you have any friends or relatives in Canada, you can ask them to talk to their MP to pull some strings.

Try it and see.  I have heard of such cases in the past.

What happens if he ger an extra point? Does he have to apply again and pay all fees or is there a special appeal form for that?

Did your application include the fact that your brother is a Landed Immigrant?  If you have family ties then that is worth up to 5 points.  The other option is to ask your brother if he can help you find arranged employment.

If he appeals and shows that he has more points now than when he applied, they may take that into consideration.  Same if his brother talks to the MP, maybe he will be let in with less points.

If his appeal does not work out, he can try to apply again.

I have already included my uncle and 5 points was awarded under Adaptability. I still lack of 1 point. Trying to joined my uncle and brother in Canada is really a big task. I thought CIC should be more humanitarian and gives us this opprtunity.


Thanks for all responses to my topic and really appreciate good positive feedback. Yes, I wait for the outcome of the election and hope CIC could lower to minimum 65 points instead of 67 points. However, if any of you have come across some way or another, please let me know..

If CIC already awarded you 5 points towards reuniting your family, you will not get more points for your brother.  It is not CIC fault that your brother and uncle decided to move to Canada.  They do not make a special points system just for you.

Since you are only missing one point though, you can still ask your brother or uncle to talk to their MP's and see if they can pull some strings.  You still have the option to take a crash course in French and English and try to increase your language points and appeal with CIC.  If you need to apply again, you will go under the new rules which nobody knows what are yet.  Your profession may even exclude you from applying under the new rules so you should really try the MP first and also try to increase your points and work on your appeal as a backup plan.

As the OP has already been refused and s/he agrees that the point total is correct, then the file is closed and their only option is to re-apply once they have sufficient points.  They also better hope that their occupation is on the "priority list" whenever it is released or else their application may never get processed.

seriously nothing is impossible but once your case has been determined, it is done and close. i wonder how many people will be appealing if anybody and everybody can talk to a PM.

If truely he needs only one point, there is nobody above 25 years old, who can not improve their language point by 1.

I have asked my brother and uncles to talk to their MPs. Have you any way to get a sample of the letter so that I can forward it to the appropriate MP to assists my case? I know I am counting on you and hope you can assists me if possible to my humble requests.

I SORRY FOR THAT UNFORTUNATE OUTCOME OFYOUR APPLICATION BUT DO NOT  WORRY MUCH BECAUSE I HAVE A BROTHER OVER WHO  JUST TOLD ITS VERY POSSIBLE TO APPEAL AND COME OUT WITH POSITIVE RESULTS.

I WENT THROUGH MY INTERVIEW FOR QUEBEC IN YAOUNDE  CAMEROUN ONTHE 13TH OF JUNE 2008 BUT  TILL TODAY I HAVE NOT HAD ANY REPLY.

CAN IT BE POSSIBLE THAT THEY STAY FOR LONG LIKE THIS AND STILL END UPNOT GIVING ME POSITIVE RESPONSE. FOR HOW LONG SHOULD  I THEN CONTINUE TO WAIT BECAUSE I AM AN AGRONOMIST AND ACTUALLY FELT UNDER THE HIGH DEMAND PROFESSION FOR 2008.
