Once I resign how will i be able to cross the Canada - US border? As per myunderstanding L1A visa is a company specific work permit in USA. Once i got  my passport back with PR i would be resigning from my job, with a notice period of few days. I am not sure what would be my status in USA on last day of my job. Will immigration office ask me for my legal status in USA while crossing border to Canada?
Any better thoughts?

Nope, there is no problem at all. You can cross the border without any problem.

Good luck!!

Usually there is a grace period. Like for H1B it's 14 days I think.

I am not sure what is VO.
I applied for PR in Buffalo office and later they transferred my file to Detroit.

So your Visa Ofc is Buffalo, New York. Did u already send your passport for visa stamping?!? in what stage are u rt now? Good thing that your previous employer is not requiring you to go back to your home country since you are resigning...
