Well, there are a few things that seem to make a case go longer than the average 7 months time that we have been seeing lately... (even though on the offical immigration website it does state that the ave time is 15 months)

it has seemed that in the past when there is children involved (child being sponsored from Jamaica along with spouse) it is a slightly longer process. Especially when the child is not the child of the person sponsoring - in that case there needs to be letters from the other parent staying in JA stating that they give authority to allow the child to move country and more background checks need to be completed essentially adding more time to the case - espeically if not all documents were submitted in initial package

when the person being sponsored has lived / worked outside of Jamaica for more than 6 months - in that case they need to get police checks from all countries resided or worked in and in turn also makes for added background checks from the embassy which again, can legthen the process - espeically if not all docuements were submitted in initial package

when the person being sponsored medicals expire before the visa is issued. Medicals are valid for only 1 year since the date done. we cannot stress enough on this forum about doing medicals LAST before sending off application. A visa cannot be issued if the medicals are invalid.

If kingston does not feel like you have presented enough evidence they will ask for an interview, this most definetly adds more time onto your case.

The Immigration Officer that has your file (IO) everyone works differently and at different paces - many of used to think that we have the same IO working on our files because our files went the same way at the same times - total specualtion there.

Many people have had problems with file in kingston and they have given excuses such as, wanting to verify that the marriage certificate is legit, the medicals were not done proper by the DMP, letters and phone calls have been made to person being sponsored but that person being sponsored has claimed to never receive them (such as document request etc), Files have been misplaced or lost, calls being made to embassy from unknown people stating that the relationship is not legit and inturn tampering with the case....  dont mean to make you worry - but things do happen.

It seems that during the summer months Kingston slows down a bit also, the last while Kingston has been audited and since then they have really seemed to have stepped up their game so it will be interesting to see if this summer is the same. We blame that on summer holidays, short staff, a lot of holidays since they recognize both jamaican and canadian holidays.

I personally dont think that if the person being sponsored is employed or non-employed makes a difference - I guess it is all in eyes of the IO. Not sure on that, but a person who holds a job can look more "independant" in someones eyes i suppose. A long term job can never be a bad thing right?

I also dont think that age is a huge factor, we have had a few people on this forum with 15+ year difference both man being older and sponsoring a younger women, and women being older sponsoring a younger man and both have had no problems with being approved. I think if age is the only factor that the IO could pick on for being a possible reason for not being genuine then I dont think they have a good enough fight to call you in for an interview.

So far we have NOT ONE PERSON WHO HAS BEEN DENIED on this forum so far!! We have a great great success rate 100%. We have had a handful of interviews - but it seems that KNG always asks for an interview if they doubt anything and give you an X amount of time to present whatever documents or proof that is necessary.

I soo appreciate everyones warm welcome, this place feels like home.. oh  my! I cant stop prying into all of your stories! I am so thankful that there are some people here who have enough experience to know some of the time lines! A lil about me...
 I met my husband in Aug. 2009, we were married a year to the day we met. I have been to jamaica 5 times prior to our application. I have one child, he has no children, neither of us have previous marriages. He has had the same job since her graduated from highschool, so like 8 years or so.
 Now we did his medical just after we were married. which was Aug. but i never sent in my full application til jan, because we had some hold up with crimminal records, and my income tax form, cant remember the name of it, but it was taking forever to get here!
Should a person go and get another medical now?  or should i wait to hear?
Beside all of the somantics.. I am so inlove, and just can hardly wait to wake up to my husband each morning!

KC416 noticed Kimore & my question is answered about how long call after
re-do meds he/she done meds few weeks ago & got a call for PP today so just shows KGN CAN work fast if they want to but the standard 60 days for reply is still the norm.

thanks for the info nae nae i called them and the lady was very helpful... she advised me to also check off medical file so that i can find out what happen to hubby medical lol since Kg misplaced it  now that i send off the papers for the caips i bet you hubby will get a call in the next few days....

irving... welcome to you and i would say you should wait prior to getting another medical done... send it when they request it cause kingston seem to lose lots of stuff... when sending a new medical make sure you also make a copy for you records...

Good Morning All, indeed it is a good feeling that we got the ppr call.  Chukie you are right, my hubby redo his meds about 3 weeks ago, and KGN already got the results.  So if KGN wants to work they can, plus i believe it's the IO on the file.  However we are excited.  I am definitely hoping for more good news this week.  We all need to continue our lives with our loved ones.

Thanks for checking on me guys!!!  I am in Negril working, and visiting with family, so I have only sporadic access to internet.  Hubby had to delay his visit by a week, on Saturday Passport Canada said he needed to re-do one of the forms, get it notarized and send it back to them, so he took care of that yesterday.  Looking forward to seeing him next week

Good morning forum family and welcome irving and proper, to quote charlie, stick and stay. Good analogy proper, there are many good men out there and it's nice to welcome a little more testosterone, was getting a little one sided on here for the past few months. There has been NO spouses that have left there significants others on this forum that I have heard of. kc, nae and everyone with a little bun growing, stay warm and take care of our little Jamcadians, they'll grow to know what true love is.

A male patient is lying in bed in the hospital, wearing an oxygen mask over his mouth and nose,

 still heavily sedated from a difficult four hour surgical procedure.  A young student nurse appears to give

 him a partial sponge bath. Nurse,' he mumbles, from behind the mask 'Are my testicles black?'

 Embarrassed, the young nurse replies: 'I don't know, Sir. I'm only here to wash your upper body.'

 He struggles to ask again, 'Nurse, are my testicles  black?'  Concerned that he may elevate his vitals from

 worry about his testicles, she overcomes her embarrassment and sheepishly pulls back the covers.

 She raises his gown, holds his penis in one hand and his testicles in the other, lifting and moving them

 around and around gently. Then, she takes a close look and says, 'No sir, they aren't and I assure you,

 there's nothing wrong with them, Sir !!' The man pulls off his oxygen mask, smiles at her and says very

 slowly, 'Thank you very much. That was wonderful, but listen very, very closely.....

Good Morning Forum family, As everyone already knows, my husband has taken the first place for longest delay for pp pick-up.   Anyway my question is, his workplace wants to send him on a business trip for the longest while to the Bahamas , however because of this delay they  keep changing the date, now he has until the the end of next week before they pass the baton to someone else. Mind you, this is a great opportunity for his work experience.

Do you think if I mentioned it to my MP they could do anything to expedite the issuance of his visa, or do you t hink the embassy may want to return his pp without giving the visa then tell him to take it back after his return from the Bahamas? Your responses will be greatly appreciated as usual.

Ramdont, at this stage, I say anything that emphasizes the fact that KG is causing your husband severe inconvenience by holding his passport so long needs to be put to your MP so he kicks KG to get some movement out of them.  Whether it is that they return his PP without the visa (and a DAMNED GOOD reason why they held it for more than 2 months without issuing it) or they hurry up and issue the visa and send his PP back so he can go about his business, something needs to happen.

I am sorry, but in your case I would be raising Cain by now, from MP all the way to Minister Kenney.  Holding someone's PP for more than 10 weeks when this is not SOP for our region?  That is beyond slackness.  Something is FISHY and they are giving you the runaround.

I sure hope everthing is ok. Sometimes I tend to wonder if they misplaced his pp and is trying to use delayed tactics so that they can relocate it. Honestly, I really wouldn't want them to return it without the visa and then after his return we have to go over the process of waiting again. I want to contact my MP about it this morning but I am a bit worried that I may rock the boat to much and then they sabotage us even more by holding it longer!!!!

Ramdont...I would be fumig by now....this is utterly ridiculous....as if you have not waited long enough!!!! I would have everyone involved at this point.  I however would have to waiver between requesting back for the PP or waiting for it as you have already waited 2 months.  Its a tough decision I know!!!
