lol Nae I haven't took the bus myself in years since I was in high school.. I hope the shifts coordinate with yours so you can drive him... that would be perfect.. Just a question for my own reference did your hubby already receive his social insurance number??? when is that given and how long you gotta wait for it... Do I have to make the application when he is still in Jamaica or it's done when he lands??

I forgot to respond to a few messages lol sorry guys hahaha I check them from my bb and I didn't remember I didn't respond to them...

CharlieD... FedEx is overpriced in Jamaica if you ask me... hubby paid about 3500 i believe if my memory is still good to ship bills and other stuff that I had forgotten to grab... I put the whole package together which help or else they would of nailed him too... Hubby had it easy send me the bills and sign the signature pages, ship that to me.. then I filled out everything with the lawyer and made my booklet with all my info...

jahlove and godblesswife... I think I was becoming to develop obessive compulsive disorder lol hahahahahahaha I checked the site sometimes 5 times in one day... now at least I will cool off and maybe check it 2 times for the week lol hahahaha.. it will definatly ease my mind... I thought I was going crazy  Shocked

Congrats Charlie such a relief when that app is off the dining room table lol!!
That is great news Nae about the job, will be nice for you to get help with the bills, I know I cant wait for that day for real.
COngrats everyone on the medicals recieved updates, looks like 2011 could be the year for processing times who knows?

I got a new job yesterday, it will keep me busy which is good, but at least I wont be working 2 jobs anymore and once the snow is gone I can bike to work. I took some pics of all the ice fishing huts on the Bay, hubby just cant wrap his head around that Canadian tradition!! (actually I cant either Roll Eyes)

I am leaving in24 days, hubby does not know I am coming he only knows my 2 best friends are going and he is planning to meet up with them, I am the "package" they have told him I am sending with them. Cheesy

Ok, back to original documents sorry to be OCD about this... has anyone here experienced Kingston requesting original documents (birth and marriage) AND do they ask for this when they ask for passport request. I am just trying to decide if it is better for my husband to take them in when requested or get my immigration guy to forward them to Kingston now, even though he is insists they are not necessary as it is clearly stated that copies are acceptable.. Thanks

Randysgirl... It's been asked quite a few times and I think just about everyone who didn't submit originals has been asked for them... It's probably going to happen at some stage... When I read the country specific guideline it was inconsistent and I decided to send originals (while it says at the top to send photocopies, beside each line item except bc and mc it says (PHOTOCOPY))... The decision to send originals worked for us... Not sure if you should send them before being asked.... Couldn't hurt as long as they are clearly linkable to your file...

Good luck

Congrats Nae Nae, looks like hubby really landed on his feet. he must be feeling great.
Lonely: Ecas was getting way to addictive for me I had to do something about my habit lol.
so the E-tracker worked fine for me.

Randysgirl, I agree with Chelley, it does say Photocopies on one part of the form, but 98% of applicants get asked for originals, it has shown to cut down processing times by about 2 months, if they have all the documents they need and dont have to request anything from you. they actually have that somewhere on their website as well. (in reasons for delay section I think)

so I would suggest if Hubby has Extra Copies get him to but his Name and address, file number, and telephone number on an envelope and address it to the High commission and "drop it off". just to be safe.

I sent Photocopies because I read in the application package that you can send photocopies and I asked a CIC worker when I called in prior to send off my application and she said photcopies are alright.
What originals do the ask for?  Hubby has his birth certificate and our marriage license.  Will they ask for anything else?

Quick poll...

Is soup really soup without yellow yam? I got everything ready and realized what I'd thought was a piece of yam, is really (Jamaican) sweet potato... I'm lazy... Can I just put in extra dumpling or would that really be just wrong?

Ugh... Lol...

Off to oceans I go....

randysgirl - congrats on the new job!!!  I also sent originals

ladyposh - it's birth and marriage certificate they ask for.

lonely wife - hubby got his SIN number the day after he landed.  You have to go to the office where they issue them and hubby has to show his PR paper and passport and they issue the SIN number.  You get a piece of paper with all the details, the card comes in the mail in about 2 weeks they said.  You can't apply for it on your husband's behalf.  Wait until her gets here then take him in to get it.  You can work as soon as you get a SIN number....you don't have to have the card in your hand just the number.

Re Original Documents Kgn Usually Request: this relates to Birth and Marriage Certificates, Bills etc were photocopied when we sent our pack, even Photos were all Color copied, and that seemed to work fine so far.

My gawd chelley...soup pon Sat'day fi dinnah?  How Jamaican can you be??? LOL.  I am sorry to say that is one Jamaican tradition I never got into.  It drove me mad that you always knew soup was for dinner on Saturday...the only thing that made it bearable was knowing rice and peas and chicken was coming the next day.  Tongue  When we went to stay with my mother, she made soup and hubby was all agog and asking her how come I didn't know how to make it.  My mother said, of course she knows how to make it, I taught her, she just hates soup! LOL.

Randysgirl, congrats on the new job Smiley

Randysgirl congrats on the job... that will probably free up some of your time since I know you been working really hard...

Nae... thanks for the info about the sin number will tell hubby tomorrow about that since he was wondering how that all worked Smiley

CharlieD... too funny, it reminds me of my mother in law's pea soup... OMG I felt so bad they're was pig tail in there... that grossed me right out hahahahaha when I took a bit... I had a weird taste in my mouth and wanted to vomit everywhere... I felt so bad.. Mother in law is a great cook but I HATE PEA SOUP... well maybe I would like it without pig tail.... I much rather chicken with rice and peas thats more my type of food Tongue
