Thanks guys this update came out of nowhere, I must admit I was not even excpecting to hear anything from them till January. and there it was my tiny little update  glad to know its finally moving along.

Hubby was like "oh so I can cancel my flight then" I'm like "slow down Babe, lol we dont know if they are moving quick to slow down again" lol  "get your but here I need to make sure I get me some TLC long overdued"  still have have to keep it real man.

then he went "oops it was meant to be a surprise" and now he still wont say when he's coming
ahhh boy. oh well as long as mi get some.

Morning forum family so i had a dream night b4 last night that i got a call from the immigration and they requested that i left jamaica immediately.....then last night i had another dream they were asking me for my birth certificate and a ticket to prove i can leave jamaica the following day i got up these 2 days with my fingers crossed hoping to god that these dreams do come thru
and also thinking to myself if something like this is about to happen

I am grinning like this because hubby found his missing passport!  He still has to send it back, because he had already made a police report, but the replacement will be fast-tracked. 

Also, and very important, he can now copy the pages from the passport showing his original Immigration landing stamp, and the extension stamp we got so he could stay with me longer.  Every little bit of evidence is important, as I am learning from reading this forum! 

We have set his next visit at some time in spring (wish it could be sooner!) and we decided to apply for his marriage exemption so he can get a PR for Jamaica.  That way Immigration doesn't give him a hard time when he visits (they didn't believe him when he said he was coming to get married, maybe the earrings had something to do with it).  So funny, isn't it?  Here's what we need to do so he can get PR in Jamaica:

$520 Cnd fee (split between Min of Labour and Passport, Immigration and Citizenship Agency)
Certified and original copies of our marriage certificate
Certified and original copies of my birth certificate
Two certified photos of him, and one of me
Affidavit sworn in front of JP that we occupy a common matrimonial home in Jamaica
Two page form for Min of Labour
Three page form for PICA
One day processing at Min of Labour
One week processing at PICA
Done!

What do I need to do so I can live with him in his country?  Well, we already know that!

why doesn't he just go for unconditional landing... when we all moved down to Jamaica that's what i was going to do (I ended up just overstaying (bad bad bad), but i couldn't really part with 40k (10k a piece for me and the 3 kids) to get the unconditional landing stamp... once he gets that, he shouldn't have any issues coming or going... he can actually work on it too (although you do have to apply for a work permit, it's a simple process, not a lenghty one for those with landing restrictions)...

lemme see if i can dig up the link, it's confusing, but i did call and verify that it was the best option for us...


oh, btw, awesome news MISSING!!!! and congrats to everyone else who got their smaller updates, any news is hopefully good news... .

Kimore, sorry that happened to you guys.... i've found that when kgn makes a mistake and is called out on it, they sometimes overcompensate a bit... when they lost our son's birth certificate copy, they told us to bring in another and while we were at it, bring in the ppt.... tell your husband to express his disappointment at their error (politely) when he does have the interview... that he was very excited and anxious and made arrangemnets to travel and such and such and such, only to be told that there was no interview scheduled on the date that he was told (print out any evidence you have that they mis-informed you of the date and have it handy.... their mistakes should not just be shrugged off)...

charlie... i'd call or visit PICA and ask about the unconditional landing b/c they've changed up their website a bit and it excludes those entitled to citizenship thru marriage from the list of those eligible for uncondtional landing... it did this previous and i found this document (albeit I found it on the PICA website, but unlinked (i.e. found it from google))...

i had called in Feb of this year, and was told that those married to jamaican citizens did qualify for unconditional landing (my children all did by direct decent).... we ended up getting the passport pick up call a couple days later, so didn't bother....

it's worth a call... if the status is still available to him, it would save you some time and money, the process is MUCH simplier and the end result is pretty much the same!

Can't apply for PR until adoption licence and documents received.
