mrslwsn - yes I sent in the change of status form and they sent me a letter asking for a World Income form.  I sent that in with the amount of income my hubby made last year and haven't heard anything back from them.  I sent a letter with the World Income form explaining I was filling it out on his behalf and that he does not live here yet...still in JA and has applied for PR.

We finally got our file number - so we know it is there! 2 questions : How long does it take to process a Medical Redo? and How long from when they request the PP until they issue the visa?

charlieD- yes, your husband will have to put your total income from 2009 on the World Income form and let them know it was money made in JA.  I know, my husband's was a ridiculous amount too....but that's how it goes lol

my hubby sent this one to me today and I really would never want to steal canuck's thunder but thought it might get a little chuckle out of those of us browsing around this weekend....so here goes

A Trinidadian, a Jamaican, a Barbadian and a Grenadian went to New York
for the Labor Day weekend. To save money, they decided to sleep two to
a room. No one wanted to room with Daryl, the Trinidadian, because he
snored so loudly. They decided it wasn't fair for the same person to
stay with Daryl every night, so they voted to take turns.
 
The Grenadian slept with Daryl on the first night and came to
breakfast the next morning with his hair a mess and his eyes all
bloodshot. They said, 'Man, what happened to you?'
 
He said, 'Daryl snored so loudly, I just sat up and watched him all
night.
 
The next night it was the Barbadian's turn. In the morning, he arrived for
breakfast with hair all disheveled, eyes all blood-shot. They said,
'Man, what happened to you? You look awful!'
 
He said, 'Man, that Daryl! He shakes the roof. I watched him all night.
 
The third night was the Jamaican's turn. Blacka was a big burly
Dread from Tivoli. The next morning he came to breakfast
bright-eyed and chipper.
 
'Good morning,' he said. The others couldn't believe it! They said,
'Man, what happened?'
 
He said, 'Well, we got ready for bed. I went and tucked Daryl into bed
and kissed him good night - said 'nite nite dorling'...  He sat up and
watched me all night long.

wow, ok, so since I am just changing my name now...am I safe to send in all this world ray ray status change as of january 2011 or do i do it immediatly. I was married in Feb of this year but since it was 2009 taxes i filed i had to file as single...I thought this would only affect me when filing 2010 taxes....right now I really depend on my ctb as well as my employment because my ctc is actually more than what I earn in a month, so it a big help. bwoi, i am vex...to clarify my husband has never been to Canada...as yet thx again for all advice and links.

All you have to do is fax them a letter stating that you got married in such and such date send them a copy of marriage certificate and a change of name as well as your SIN and DOB as well as your husband name DOB and put O zero income as soon as posibble and download the form change of status and just fax it to the taxation office. And every year you have to do the same thing until he come to canada. I always do it every January so that they wont hold my cctb/gst..etc don`t wait for the last minute because they will hold it until you send all the info and it will take 8 weeks for them to process so better do it at the beginning of January.

So am I safe doing this in jan of 2011? before i file my 2010 tax or do i have to do it right right now?

I still think you should do it now... Fill out at 2009 world income and in January fill out a 2010 one  shouldn't mess up anything at all if you're proactive about it...

mrs lwsn - make sure you send the change of status form and the world income form in at the same time because it does affect your child tax benefit and your hst ... they calculate your hubby's income in.  If hubby's income is 0 or minimal, you have no worries.  But if you dont send the world income form, it may hold up your ctc and hst....I don't know for sure as I never got any anyway but I sent in the change of status form then they sent me a letter asking for the world income form to re-calculate my entitlement to ctb and hst.  I know it won't change my entitlement ... I'll still get nothing but I don't know how that will work for you.  If you wait too long, they may penalize you....who knows.  Maybe someone else on here knows more

and remember the world income is for 2009.  Next year you will probably have to send in another one for 2010 ... you don't want them auditing you so if I were you, I'd send it in
