greetings all... quick overview/introduction before i ask my question... married my husband in may of 09, i was 5 months pregnant at the time... We submitted our paperwork on Sept 30, the day before our son was born... I was approved for sponsor October 22, processing began on Nov 11.... we got a letter Feb 8 saying we need to bring in proof of our son's birth certificate.. I took my maternity leave here (in jamaica) so had the b/c with us... we submitted that feb 9... today (feb 22) we got a phone call saying we must bring in the birth certificate again since they have misplaced the copy (only in jamaica lol), along with my husband's passport so they can finalize the immigration process... first, am i correct in assuming that this is it, we're done? and secondly, how long does it take for us to get his passport back?.... i've been enjoying living in jamaica and plan on being here a couple more months at least (not looking forward to going back to winter, we'll wait it out ), but it'll be nice to know we're READY!!! thanks for the help and best of luck to you all!!!

Mr. P - Thanks for the great words. It is the year of jubilee!
Sorry I did not log on earlier - really slammed at work - cause I did have an UPDATE.
Hubby called this morning - early, early 6:45 am but likkle bwoy and I were already risen - anyway, PP is ready for pick up. LCW and Jam, I guess they needed an extra day with that little holiday last week!
So hubby called me at work at end of day, flight is booked for March 21. Guess he called my friend the travel agent and set it all up.
Here's to more updates this week!

Hey Chelley...
congrats on the baby! so wish i could be in Jamaica right now, we are having a snow storm here.
on average we have noticed from forum members that it takes around 7- 14 days or so to get a call back from Kingston to pick up their passport with visa in it.
Kingston has been very slow at processing visas the past few years and their ave processing time for 30% of applicants is 7 months - that being the shortest time line. Last year only a few PR applicants on this forum got through in 7 months... none made it in 6 or 5 or 4 or 3 months..etc
This year we have had one person so far on this forum whos PR application has only taken 4 months. she has submitter her passport already but has been waiting at least 2 weeks (maybe even 3 weeks) now for a call to pick up her passport.... this time line is similar to yours since your application has only been with Kingston for 4 months since the end of October (within 7 days after you are approved as a sponsor).
As far as I know.... when they ask you for the passport you are at the final stage.
No one on this forum yet has been asked to bring in passport and has waited a long period of time after they have brought it in or have been asked to bring further documents or have been denied.
It is safe to assume that you have been approved and after the passport has been brought in that you will shortly get the visa inside and will be called to pick up passport.
Have fun in JA... its great that you guys get to be together.
I really think this is a good sign that KG is on the move... fingers crossd

it's nice to know things are moving along quicker in kingston... i hope that the other applicants are as lucky/successful as we have been as it really has moved quickly... i was not expecting to hear anything until may or june...
enjoy the snow (not) i'll try to send some sunshine up that way (just send down something wet b/c we haven't seen water here in about 4 months and i really don't want to pay fill the tanks yet again!)

welcome chelley..
I'm the lucky one that got the call for hubby to bring in PP at 4 months..they have had his passport for 4 weeks today and no news....I emailed them on Thursday and no reply...my guess is someone messed up called us too soon and now they are going to hold onto his PP until the 7 month mark so they don't mess up their Stats...I'm trying to stay positive but it's hard to be this close..and be strung along some more..blah....I really hope they don't do this to too many ppl..frustrating to get this false hope and get no news..in my head he was supposed to be here 3 weeks ago...
congrats mizzy!

awww helpme, i'm sorry about that... hopefully they get it sorted out quickly... our process may have been quicker because my husband was living in the UK when we applied... we went thru kingston (even tho london would have probably been faster) b/c we knew that we'd be here... although he did need to get two police records (the UK one came from scotland yard and was a PIA to get too...) crossing fingers that ours won't be delayed and that yours will come thru any day now... i'm bless to have my family together during the wait, can't imagine it's easy... thanks for the welcome all

Welcome Chelley. Movement out of Kingston in any form is always a good sign. And so long as your husband has the time available under his medical, your family should be able to take its time in JA waiting out the winter. I wish I had been fortunate enough to spend more of my mat leave there just for the father/son bonding. Enjoy your time together.
Helpme, I certainly hope that the IO is not just sitting on the passport waiting for 7 months. In that 30% there must be a few files that takeless time...they can't all be exactly 7 months. Maybe they did err and were a little premature in calling as the background was not quite done? Have you contacted your MP for assistance? Yours is certainly a situation they should follow up on for you. They can start with an inquiry to Ottawa about the current file notes. If no answer there, they can contact KG direct. My understanding from my MP office is that they won't contact KG unless you pass the magic timeline, but in your case, the circumstances should warrent it. I only suggest MP because some are effective and KG itsself is so infrequent at responding direct to emails and we all know they do not take phone calls!
Maple, still no word from your MP? Was there a February BF date of some sort that you were expecting? I can't recalland way too many pages on this thread to go back more than a couple days!
