Afternoon, I got mad busy at work, but @ Chickie, I am very sorry for the loss you husband experienced, however I still stick to my opinion, as much as I respect yours as well! Part of being Jamaican, or any 3rd world country where politicians and police and government are corrupt, and there is poverty, is knowing the crime rate will be higher. It is a fact of life. I have experienced first hand a lot of violence as I was born in westmoreland, but grew up in Tivoli Gardens, during the 80's when there was a huge flood of political war. I have witnessed at 8 years old a man being murdered in front of me by 2 men jumping on a 2x4 and snapping his neck. I have been under curfew and had a ak-47 pointed at my neck while I had to lay on the floor for over 2 hours beside my granny. Going back I dont stay in Kgn as I have no fond memories, and consider myself a Montegonian, as that is where my home is in Jamaica now. Yet, we get reports of ppl being murdered all the time from our area in Bay, my nephew was murdered on Union St. by police and his body thrown down into a truck from the hairdressers where they killed him. A guest of my wedding was murdered in a little rumbar 2 months after my wedding, a sweet friendly man, nothing to do with any illegal business, was just minding his own and having a drink. This is part of LIFE. As much as I wish it were different all that doesnt make a refugee claim by Canada's standards, so while that is so unfortunate, the fact remains, filing refugee from a country that is pretty much impossible to file ref from, IS tying up the system for the rest. Not in your husbands case Chickie, BUT in many cases a lot of this violence has to do with the way people live their life in Jamaica, by crime, violence and lusting after a foolish movie dream of luxury. There are so many hard working honest Jamaicans, who deserve an opportunity to travel and live wherever their heart desires, and it angers me when people abuse the system. It benefits no one. As I said, this is a general statement and definatly not reflecting special circumstances. I dont even think the gays have a right to claim refugee status, as I see many of them living a great life in Mobay, frolicking around, like they dont have a care in the world. Life aint that hard for them. LIFE truly is what you make it
