 @ ANADA
You need to look into this a lot and see your opitions before you decide to up and go
I know this is stressfull and I know how you feel trust me it has gotten to me too big time on many occasions
There was actually a time that I started packing and was ready to book it ..then a friend of mine brought me back and showed me the ups and downs of what might happen so please consider
If you are a permanent resident you may loose your health care coverage after 6 months out of the country
Also obtaining a job legally in jamaica is hard due to the fact you are not a citizen of that country anymore
There are a lot of obstacles to over come. Trust me my girl I feel your pain ... I think about it a lot
Myself and probably if I didn't have my daughter to think about and her life here in Canada I would have said *censored word* it this country and gone home long time. But I made the decision to stay here and that's what hubby I decided on to build a life here (even though I full intend on going home one day for good God willing)...however back to my point don't take the decision lightly. If you decide to go I wish you luck..... If  you decide to stay it will be hard and even harder still but the lord does not give us more than we can bare... trust me I feel like I am at my breaking point its been  83 days now since I sent in my application to immigration Canada and have heard nothing back I call and I get pure attiude from the *censored word* them that work there.... I don't even know if they received my application because I had to get a relative to mail it off for me due to business out of town and they mailed it regular mail so no tracking... it driving me crazy but what can I do but wait till I here from them... and plan  another trip back home to see hubby and step daughter
Your life soon sort out my girl ...all of us waiting things soon sort out .... So keep the faith and remember with ever day that goes by is one less that we have to wait to be reunited with our loved ones

yes, Ready had brought up some very valid points... I too have thought all these things, one thing to add... not only could you be at risk for losing health coverage but your CTB as well....  just prepare yourself wholly before acting on your decision Smiley

i hear that....i sooo hear that....as for me...im cad born citizen....cant lose my entitlements...but where kids are concerned....my only fear is IF i leave them behind with their Dad...well they will then get settled in there with him, and then i wont be able to get them easily back...cause what if they wont want to come back i dunno.... our plan is to build a temporary life up here at least long enough till he can get a citizen status, and then jump ship when were good and ready....BUT for the next 1.5 years...i dont and cant see myself living like this anymore...its wayy to hard on me, on our relationship...on my sanity...on everything. We can only do the best we can but this is not enough....i wnot let go of my things...just keep them in storage...we will return, but this time i dont want to go home without him....i could so do this EASY but after having carried my babies...even though they step mom fairly decent, and they have an excellent Father.....i just dont want to have that peace of mind of me not having my babies ever live with me again, even when he finally does come up here....but what would end up happening, is we'd have to move back to the city im initially from to do a 50/50 split with the kids....which i am also willing to do.

Losing your health coverage and CTB payments have nothing to do with your citizenship...  if you move out of province/country for longer than 6 months you will lose both....

how will they know i moved out? i know that sounds like a dumb qustion, but how would they really know..and wht if i come back to visit before the 6 mo moths is up?...

and even if i did lose it, when i come back to CAD to live, why wouldnt i be able to easily get it back?

First of all, in my thinking, you would have to keep a Canadian address, but they may be able to find out you are out of country thru customs but that could be a reach.  You would be entitled to receive your benefits again when you reach back but it may take some time, up to 3 months with your health care coverage and the same for CTB unless they make you prove your income from when you were gone... not to sure about all the details but that is a general

its come to the point im wishing i could laid off or fired....I know normally u cant collect EI if fired, but there are exceptions...and i been working non stop here for 3 years...but they told me they cant lay me off cause my job per, id have to quit...and you cant quit and collect EI....would be the only way i could keep my address, is by having that money coming in to pay rent....and even at that, thats also illiegal cause u not supposed to be out of country when on EI...

I CANT have a baby, at least not until i come up with 5k to reverse having got tied years ago...so i dont even have mat leave to look forward to,......im just a giant ball of depressed...i got to get out of here.

Anada, I feel for you girlfriend, there is not a day that goes by that I don't wanna say screw this and just take off to JA to be with my hubby. For 2 1/2 years we were together and we went everywhere together, grocery shopping, clubbing, visiting friends, church, we were never without each other except to go to work. The day I had to see him off at the Toronto airport, just about killed me and I felt like I truly was losing my other half. But common sense has kept me from taking off to go live down there, weigh the pros and cons of what you are thinking, that is what I did and there were too many cons for me overcome so I have decided to stay and stick it out even knowing that my process is going to be way longer then most peoples because we have so many issues still to deal with once our app gets to Kingston. Man, I feel you on the sex thing, all I can say for that is God gave us 8 fingers and 2 thumbs lol but mostly I just try to put it out of my mind. Good luck on your decision.

well, if you could switch to your mother's address then that may be an option... it all risky so not advising you to do it that way just simply guessing

I hear you on this tho....  99% of us in this forum that are still waiting are separated from our spouses and it is hard, very hard.  You need to get back to your focus you had last week... you were good! you had a plan to visit every 3 months and you were strong about it!  Stay strong!!  set small goals if it helps. You said you booked a ticket to go in July, so start the count down til then... that is less overwhelming than thinking of the next year and a half.  This process turns us into our own worst enemies, so make it easier on yourself and take some pressure off.  baby steps, my girl.

PS, you can do this... BUT, you NEED to tell yourself that EVERYDAY!!!
