Thanks everyone - I always feel humble when I read this thread, there are so many of you who are separated from your spouses, and I am always hoping for reunions!

My sister told me they had snow in BC over the weekend, I don't know how we're going to handle the climate change, have been in Cayman for almost 4 years now!  The twins' birthday was on 16th March and we had a big party in the back garden, about 60 people, 25 of whom were kids under 2... it was a real laugh!  No outside birthday parties in March in Canada!

Will update when we receive the docs... lots of positive thoughts to all of you...

Good morning!

Meg, I dunno about that, this winter was quite mild by most reports, and days before the actual arrival of spring people in southern ON were already prancing about in shorts and t-shirts.  BC was a bit different, from what I hear they had it mild all winter long, and now they have decided to have a winter when spring is already here, haha!  Can't wait to hear that you guys are ready to be off my list!  Grin

TGIF, I don't know what it was about this week, but I am glad to see the back of it!  KG, one more day to make it a fabulous one for some families, let's GO!  NNNNEEEXXXTTTT!!!

Good morning,

Glad to hear we are in high spirit. This forum is like medicine to my soul.
Question: Is there usually an update on eCAS before they request PP?

Let me know!

LHNB, I am sure there are activities taking place, but honestly I have not heard much about them, LOL.  I avoid the news like the plague, as I find the constant diet of violence in the news does nothing for my digestion.  I do know that in schools there are activities each month to mark the lead-up to the occasion, as the children will be out of school by then (can you tell I work in an office full of parents? LOL).  Various public institutions are also marking the occasion in their own ways.

As for hotels, I have not heard of any offers linked to the homecoming (yet) but I am sure there will be.  August holidays are always a big local traveling weekend, so I am sure there will be deals to mark the occasion.  They don't usually market the local deals until closer to the time (you know how last-minute Jamaicans are!) and I have not looked at the overseas deals, although I am sure they are out there!

Good morning all,
I hear ya Charlie, the news can be quite depressing over here too! I will try to keep my eyes and ears open to get the best rates. Anyone suggest any good hotel/resorts at a REASONABLE price for anniversary? I'm the type of girl who likes lots of discounts! LOL

ps. Someone told me that if a local Jamaican books your stay, there is a cheaper rate, can anyone verify this?

Mornin' Basha!  How is baby dis morning?  E-cas is unreliable, my ecas has not updated since November 2010.  But, you will see "In process as  xxx, xx, xxx" or "Medicals Received"

lovehasnoboundaries In regards to the hotels, it all depends on whether you are looking to book all inclusive or "find your own lunch and dinner" hotels as my husband calls them.  If you're looking all inclusive, Hilton, Riu, Grand Palladium, Iberostar, Grand Bahai... if you search you can find discount codes online for most of the hotels except for Hilton.  If you're looking for non all inclusive I like the El Greco, you get breakfast, the rooms are clean and if you book a suite, it's like your staying in your own personnel two floor condo, with full kitchen.  It is definitely better to have your husband book the room so you can get the local rate, make sure he brings his gov't id.

Thanks LSSA! I filed in December so I know its still early for me but just having faith they will call my hubby soon.
Baby is doing so good. Kicking and moving so much. It even wakes me up at night sometimes. And daddy to be is so excited. This baby has taken our focus which is very good 4 us.
Let's hear something good today KG to end off the week.

Yes if hubby books using his TRN number than most hotels will give you a local rate....  for example...  Starfish regular was $200US per night per couple and local rate is $150.  This only applies to the room he is staying in... so if booking more than one room for family or friends, there would have to be more locals to stay in those rooms as well for the discount to apply

Good morning forum family and seeing all the updates is fantastic so congrats to ya'll. You gotta love the local rates, depending on the resort you get 15-20% off. Another wonderful perk is when you land with your spouse you get to go through the residents line at customs instead of wandering aimlessly through the visitor line up for 2 hours. Gotta love it.

Some of us know people like the following:

IDIOTS IN SERVICE:
This week, all our office phones went dead and I had to contact the telephone repair people. They promised to be out between 8:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. When I asked if they could give me a smaller time window, the pleasant gentleman asked, "Would you like us to call you before we come?" I replied that I didn't see how he would be able to do that, since our phones weren't working. He also requested that we report future outages by email (Does YOUR email work without a telephone line?).

IDIOTS AT WORK:
I was signing the receipt for my credit card purchase when the clerk Noticed I had never signed my name on the back of the credit card. She informed me that she could not complete the transaction unless the card was signed. When I asked why, she explained that it was necessary to compare the signature I had just signed on the receipt. So I signed the credit card in front of her. She carefully compared the signature to the one I had just signed on the receipt. As luck would have it, they matched.

IDIOTS IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD:
I live in a semi-rural area. We recently had a new neighbor call the local township administrative office to request the removal of the Deer Crossing sign on our road. The reason: too many deer were being hit by Cars and he didn't want them to cross there anymore.

IDIOT SIGHTING #1:
I was at the airport, checking in at the gate when an airport employee asked, "Has anyone put anything in your baggage without your knowledge?" To which I replied, "If it was without my knowledge, how would I know?" He smiled knowingly and nodded, "That's why we ask."

IDIOT SIGHTING #2:
At a good-bye luncheon for an old and dear coworker who is leaving the company due to 'downsizing," our manager commented cheerfully, "this is fun!. We should do this more often." Not a word was spoken. We all just looked at each other with that deer-in-the-headlights stare.

IDIOT SIGHTING #3:
I work with an individual who plugged her powerstrip back into itself and for the life of her couldn't understand why her system would not turn on.

IDIOT SIGHTING #4:
When my husband and I arrived at an automobile dealership to pick up our car, we were told the keys had been locked in it. We went to the service department and found a mechanic working feverishly to unlock the driver's side door. As I watched from the passenger side, I instinctively tried the door handle and discovered that it was unlocked. "Hey," I announced to the technician, "it's open!" To which he replied, "I know - I already got that side."

DON'T YOU FEEL BETTER NOW??!!!

Good morning!! Well, I hope it is for everyone!  About to crawl back into bed, feel like I got run over by a truck.

KG, it's all you and it's another bright and beautiful and busy Monday for you, haha!  NNNNEEEXXXTTT!!

Basha, have you ever been to this site? www.babycenter.com  A blogger I follow uses it to post updates about the progressive development of her baby as the weeks pass.  If you have, yay, if not, I thought you might like it as a way to share!  Smiley

Mrslwsn, he might just show up on your doorstep all smiles one day soon, so you get yourself ready, LOL.

Tintin, hang in there, that could be some movement!
