Kym.. I'm typing this on my BB so I apologize if it comes out funny. When I filed when my hubby was still in JA, Revenue Canada requested that I fill out a World Income form. You just fill it out sign it.. He doesn't need to sign it.. For his income I put 0 dollars in income and wrote a quick note at the bottom of the page stating he is a jamaican citizen waiting for approval of PR application. They will request that you fill two of these forms out.. One for the current tax season and one for the previous year, even if u were not married. I have a child too, it won't affect your CCTB but they will put anything else of hold like GST until they receive the forms. One way or another you will have to claim him from the time you got married. I hope this helps and its not to confusing. PM my if you have any questions.

Suki.. I didn't have any problems filing either. My tax person didn't tell me about the World Income forms, it wasn't until I was reassessed that Revenue Canada requested the World Income Form.

Ok wait a minute... This is what I needed to fill out and this was the only thing rquested from me from revenue Canada to prove my spouses income. If you're married with no children maybe its a different form. http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/E/pbg/tf/ctb9/ctb9-11e.pdfIm making things more confusing. Ill stop talking now.

... If you type "world Income" in the search box above it will bring up lots of helpful information in the kingston forum that many of the older forum members had in the past..
Here is part of an answer by an older forum member that seems to answer Kyms question...
"... i don't think changing your status with revenue canada will have any impact on your CCTB or other payouts... they will ask you to declare your hubby's income, i think many of us filed our SO's income as $0 and i've not heard of them asking for any further documetation... they seem to be happy with that... I filed my hubby's '09 income as i think 6000CAD and it dropped my GST by 30 (but upped that new OST by 30, CCTB was unchanged so netted out at no lost $)... (normally i don't even get those, love maternity leave for that... and the nice tax return!) ... I did need to fill out that world income paper for him to get that HST rebate cheque (they held it back until they got it, but they did eventually send it out)... but i digress... seriously, don't worry about it... just do it!!! i've not heard of anyone getting dinged because of it... when you file your taxes you'll get asked about his SIN (just but 99999999 or xxxxxxxxx or something) and then they'll ask if he's a canadian resident (no) and if you resided together (no)... if he's not a canadian and you didn't live together, you can still file one of your children as equiv to spouse, so your tax return $$ stays the same too... sorry for the ramble... I had to plow thru this myself last year so i thought i'd share my knowlege "

Hey everyone!!
I agree with Sanchester as I had done the same by putting 0... I had received letters from RC around end of spring-beggining summer thats when I had to write them a little letter explaining why my husband didn't have a SIN and also where he was. In that same letter, I had to let them know how much he made abroad for 09 and 10. I also had to send RC a copy of my mariage certificate. Also all my credits were on hold until my file was updated by them which took a little while. I don't have kids so can't comment about the tax child credit. Also they had sent me letters stating that I owed money cause they had given too much because in the system I was single and I had filed married. Once my file got updated I didn't owe nothing but they owed me money... Here is a copy of the letter I sent to them...
To whom this may concern,
After speaking with an employee of your office, I am advised to write a letter explaining my situation. I got married on ******************* in Jamaica to a non-resident of Canada. My husband ***************** (DOB ***************) does not currently have a Social Insurance Number as he is not currently a permanent resident of Canada. He does not have an income in Jamaica as he is dependent on my salary. For the year of 2009 and also for the year of 2010, my husband earned 0$ as he was not and is still currently not working. I would like my file to be revised as I am entitled to the monies that were given to me per the agent I spoke to yesterday on the phone. You can also find attached a copy of the letters that were sent to me by your agency and also a copy of my marriage certificate.
Regards,
Once my husband arrived in canada, I called them to let them know and I had to write another little letter including his SIN and date of arrival. Here is a copy of the letter that was sent to them once he arrived.
To whom this may concern,
I am advised to write a letter explaining my situation. I got married on *************** in Jamaica to a non-resident of Canada. My husband ************* (DOB ************) arrived in Canada on June 19, 2011 and his social insurance number is *********. He did not have an income in Jamaica as he was dependent on my salary. For the year of 2009, 2010 and also up to his arrival on June 19, 2011 my husband earned 0$. Please update this information in your systems.
Regards,
Also, my husband had worked a little during these periods but I couldn't be bothered by worrying about declaring little money he had made.

Good evening! I hope everyone enjoyed their hump day! Melmel, a CSQ is a selection certificate from the province of Quebec, this is required if your spouse is emigrating to Quebec. After CPC-M approves a sponsor, they have to send a copy of their approval letter and an application and the relevant fees to MICC, Quebec's Ministry with responsibility for Immigration matters. Without the CSQ, a VO cannot issue a visa to an applicant emigrating to QC. Thanks to lonely_wife (no more!) and Sanchester for the coverage of the tax issue! Speaking as an accountant/auditor, file your taxes on time and keep your civil status updated with your tax department. Remember, it was accountants who brought down Al Capone, haha!

Pretty women wonder where my secret lies. I'm not cute or built to suit a fashion model's size But when I start to tell them, They think I'm telling lies. I say, It's in the reach of my arms The span of my hips, The stride of my step, The curl of my lips. I'm a woman Phenomenally. Phenomenal woman, That's me.
I walk into a room Just as cool as you please, And to a man, The fellows stand or Fall down on their knees. Then they swarm around me, A hive of honey bees. I say, It's the fire in my eyes, And the flash of my teeth, The swing in my waist, And the joy in my feet. I'm a woman Phenomenally. Phenomenal woman, That's me.
Men themselves have wondered What they see in me. They try so much But they can't touch My inner mystery. When I try to show them They say they still can't see. I say, It's in the arch of my back, The sun of my smile, The ride of my breasts, The grace of my style. I'm a woman
Phenomenally. Phenomenal woman, That's me.
Now you understand Just why my head's not bowed. I don't shout or jump about Or have to talk real loud. When you see me passing It ought to make you proud. I say, It's in the click of my heels, The bend of my hair, the palm of my hand, The need of my care, 'Cause I'm a woman Phenomenally. Phenomenal woman, That's me.
