Aww RG...I hope you find a good home for your pooch until he can come too!  KG needs to get in gear and kick your husband out the door already, LOL.

MrsW, it can take up to 8 weeks for CPC-M to confirm receipt of an RPRF payment, that is why they usually recommend payment of the fees upfront, to avoid that extra 8 week delay.  However, as you sent it in November, you could hear from them within the coming week or two.

Ok freaking out. So today as I'm getting the papers and passports put into my carry on purse...I realize hubby never made a copy of the letter from my daughters biological mother. The letter and the form Kingston asked for...we sent into Kingston...but he didn't make a copy for us to have at the airport. Is this a problem? At one time someone said you have to carry a letter from the mother when you go to the airport or they won't let you through. Panicking..if this is so I have to go clear across the island tommorow and sort this out in a rush...praying its not so.

Can someone let me know asap...thank you so much!!

SQ - No need to freak out, remember, you will be traveling with the child's father.  Smiley Border agents get peevish only if there are custody issues, but as long as both parents are present (and you will be), there should be no issues, as they will know that KG would not have issued a visa for her unless you already had consent from the biological mother for the child to emigrate.

I dont think there will be a problem, but on the Canada side is where it CAN get sticky...Actually Charlie, the law in Canada is that even if you are travelling with one parent and are married, you are still supposed to walk with a letter of consent...it's stupid I know, but they can bother ppl with it. It only comes up when going thru Canada customs, never get asked going thru Jamaica customs n immigration...I personally dont think they are going to hassle SQ, but it depends on the questions they ask...If I were you SQ and it does come up, just play dumb...lol...I really dont think in this case they will ask, but you never know...I travel with my kids and they always ask me for a letter when re-entering Canada..

But I do agree with Charlie, that seeing that your daughter is actually emigrating, it would seem like a given...I was told by my lawyer though that without a letter from the other parent (married, ex, or whatever) I am breaking the law...And I have sole custody of my children!!

Good morning guys, how are all keeping?  I hope great!!

SQ- Save travel to you and the family, i hope you have no stress at all going through immigration and we all await the landing story.

Congratualation to everyone else who have move up a step closer on the immigration ladder.

I have a question for you guys that has been on my mind fro sometime now.  My husband have change his address late last year, however on the doucment that was given to by the embassy is the old address of where he was living before, how do i handle this situation while going through immigration?  Do i use the new address that we will be now living or do i put the new address on the forms that i may have to complete? If i use the old or the new address, what would be the problems from imiiigration?

I hope you guys can give me some guidance because i am really trying to reduce any forms of complication from immigration at the port.

Thanks for the responses in advance, and do have yourselves a beautiful and peaceful Sunday, God Bless you all!

Morning everyone!!

Jahlove - use the NEW address on your forms.  When you get to Immigration to confirm your landing, they will ask you to confirm the information on your COPR, at that time, MAKE SURE you get them to change the address on the COPR to the new address.  If you don't point it out to them, your PR card will be misdirected, and if there are any issues they will not be able to find you and deal with it quickly (lots of recent applicants who landed have had issues with their photographs being rejected for the PR cards).

Hey all...thanks for replies. Just to be on the safe side...can someone give me a run down of what to expect tommorow...and any and all papers I might need...or anything I might need to be prepared for both at the Montego Bay side and the Canada side. I just want to make sure I have no forgotten anything...or not prepared for something...and I want to know I have all my papers.

I have our passports with the visas....a letter from the childs mother with her ID photo copied on it and stamped by a JP....and I have the forms we are supposed to present upon landing that I assume the IO fills out with them. Anything else we are forgetting? Anything I need to know? I feel extremly anxious...and overwhelmed.

thanks

Hey SQ, do you guys have your B4 and B4A for your Goods Accompanying and Goods to Follow?  This will allow you to bring in your family's possessions without tax, and any others you may be shipping later will also be tax-free.  Aside from those, I think you already have all the paperwork needed.

Here's a handy checklist link for documentation and other reminders: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/newcomers/before-border.asp

Worried though...due to unforseen circumstances I was unable to get my daughters immunization records at this time. Her doctor was running for PNP....and won his constituancy....so he didn't get them to me in time. And my other source to get them didn't bother! So they are going to be faxed or mailed as soon as possible!! Also i didn't make the list of goods...I supposed I should do that tonight but how detailed cuz all we are taking is clothes, a few towels and sheets and my daughters toys!

Hey SQ n Charlie and everyone else...SQ I am glad you got the letter..just in case...They may not ask you, BUT always good to air on the side of caution...I was 11 when I migrated, so I dont remember much bout the process, but I do know about the general travelling with/without kids...but I feel like you may have a slight diffrent process because your husband and child are migrating. Generally Sangster is a breeze to go thru, but I get dig up on the Canada side almost 99% of the time (apparently they seem to profile me as a mule, my kids as well. If they do (which i dont think they will), just be calm, let the ppl them do whatever, answer questions honestly and take deep breaths..EVERYTHING will be wonderful!! You have covered all bases so you ting ah shot! Truly I wish you and the family peaceful and safe travel..If I was home, I live 10 mins from Sangster I would wave you off lol!
