Im just wondering... does the length you have been at your current job at the time of applying matter? I have been at my current job for almost a year but have a job interview at SAIT here in Calgary.. it would be a great opportunity.. but when i submit my immigration package it would show me as only being there for a month or so (if I even was to get it lol) Im just wanting to make sure I dont do anything to hurt my application...

Hey Fam, I called immigration to ask them a question and received 2 completly different answers from 2 different reps on the same question...very scary!! So I'm gonna throw it out here: Q#1:On the IMM0008 form where it asks to list dependants, does my husband being the applicant have to list myself and my child as his dependants? Q#2: On the IMM5406 form in section A & B again, does my husband include my info. under "spouse" and my child in section B under "children" what throws me off here is the disclaimer "note 2" under section B, because this would actually be a true statement for him-since he has no natural or adopted children but then it says to include step children in section B???

LHNB - On the IMM008 he would only list children that were being sponsored with him. So if he is the only one you are sponsoring, he does NOT list yourself and his step-child/ren.
However! On the IMM5406, he MUST list you as his spouse, AND list your child/ren as his step-child/ren.

Ok, thank you. The first rep said hubby shouldn't include me & child in IMM0008 and IMM5406 and the other said yes, he needs to include us in both. What I didn't like is I asked the 2nd rep to verify since I was told something different earlier in the day and she made reference to a help desk she could call to verify. She put me on hold and came back continuing the convo so I don't think she ever contacted them. I don't know what the reservation was (and it could have been many things) but I would hate to know that the reps get penalized or "lose points" in some way if they have to contact the help desk or something because people really need to receive accurate information to avoid any delays in their application. But again, that's why forums such as these where people are open in sharing their experiences and advice are so helpful! Thanks again. I finished all my Christmas shopping the end of November, *phew* so glad that's out of the way! It doesn't feel like Christmas yet...maybe we need more snow?!  |

Well I emailed immigration under general inquiries...gave them our names and file number. I explained to them our situation and that we'd booked our tickets, and also that I had family coming over at Christmas and was pretty anxious to know when our passports were coming back so we could make use of the extra hands packing up and getting stuff distributed to people we giving it to etc etc etc. So hopefully we get a reply..and maybe our passports back.
