Charlie- have you read The Help yet? I'm only on chapter 20 so far but a great must read book!!!! Saw the movie the other day but the book beats it by far! So hard to read when I work all day, make dinner for the family, clean up and then bed, feels like its taking me forever to finish it. Mr proper says I'm slow at reading but once he gets here he shall see that free time don't exist until yer ready to go to bed, lol.

Anyways I hope everyone is having a good week, still no news Sad MP said she is going to be calling Trinidad herself next week if she doesn't hear from them. She said it shows that they are getting our emails and reading them jus not sure why they aren't responding. I have a feel that we are gonna end up having to do a whole medical re-do. His meds expire in october and its so frustrating. Since he won't be here for our daughters first day of school we are hoping he will atleast get here for her birthday october 10. I'm jus not holding my breath anymore Sad the last few days been really tough for us with wondering, worrying and questioning. Now all we do is wait!!!

Mrs Proper, haven't read it yet, although I keep hearing good things about it.  The book is always better than the movie, haha.

POS is really out of hand now.  Since Mr Proper did new medicals in May this year, then the expiration of the original medicals in Oct should not be an issue, really.  The issue is, has POS gotten off their behinds and uploaded the medicals, and if not, why not, and when do they expect to get around to it.  Sometimes I really have to wonder if all the flak KG gets is fully deserved, it seems to me that the RMO is neither efficient nor effective in fulfilling its duties.  How is it possible for POS to have reduced their timeline when they are dragging out applications from Jamaica and other countries by not promptly uploading medical results??

Well he dint do a thorough medical, jus had to redo blood work for his illness that he has but everything was ok'd by the doctor. I'm wondering if that's why they reduced their timeline because they are gonna slack on the medicals now and do their sponsorships first and medicals from other islands second. I dunno that's prob not it but sure does feel like it. Very frustrating!!!

Yes the book is really good. Another one of my favorites and a must read is The Boy Called It, its very disturbing but really good, you can't put it down till you've read it all.

Ahh OK, I see what you mean.  You're right, it is frustrating.  Goodness knows, if they let things drag on until it expires, I cannot imagine how you would feel!  I'm really hoping something gets done soon for you both.

You know Charlie....I agree with you. Is the flak that Kingston gets fully deserved...or is it other areas that slow it down? LOL ask me this again when they give me grief....hahahaha!!

See the actual timeline is like what...16 months? Its just that most people get through sooner so we tend to think they are being bad if we get to nine or ten months and are not through yet....yet we are clearly told the timeline before we start.

Really should Kingston be applauded for the fact that most people get through in six to ten months which is STILL six months before the actual timeline??? They can legally and rightfully take that sixteen months thats laid out...yet they don't...sooo....Are they really so bad, or is it just that families are desperate to be together so if it takes longer than someone who made it through before us, we start getting frusterated!!

Jamaica is deservably known as a high risk country...just like several countries around the world. While our hubbies might be good, the truth is Jamaica has a long history with Canada of people staying illegally, people using others for immigration, and drug smuggling. I've heard and seen alot of things while living here and people really do work the system like a joke!! When it comes down to tax dollars, and the effects on the country immigration has, I believe immigration needs to take time with high risk countries. Your hubby is good...but the next three applicants might be people using the system. It sucks because it affects us and believe me I'm frusterated sameway with how long it takes....but I also appreciate alot of the benefits when living in Canada, we as Canadians know. We are a lucky country! Immigration plays a role in keeping it that way in so many ways...we do have to be careful who we let into our country from Jamaica, and from ANY country!!

So I say yaay for Kingston for NOT taking sixteen months!! But I've heard so many complaints involving medicals...so it would be nice to see some more efficiancy for whoever is involved in that area because it seems like almost everyone has to re do their medicals...and it seems like alot of them get lost...and theirs all sorts of complications.

NMH...you filed your application March 2011.  We are at August 2011, and already the medical is expired.  So I take it you guys did the medical sometime around July 2010.

If by update you mean eCAS, this is a GOOD thing, NOT something to worry about.  This means they have received the medical results and can now likely see that it is expired.  I am pretty sure your husband is going to be contacted to re-do the medical, it doesn't matter that they already requested the PP, it's just a small (we hope!) delay.

I really think you should be looking at the bright side of things, OK?  Cheer up, an expired medical is not the end of the immigration world.  Smiley

RG is right, NMH.  If the medical needs sorting, it will be sorted.  You're in the final stages of processing if eCAS says "medicals received" now.  If he needs to re-do, they will see that now that they have got the results.

SQ - I totally agree with you that we need to look at the bright side!  KG's official timeline is 17 months for 80% of cases to be processed, at least we know that they are trying to do better than that with SOME cases.  In other cases, like the Propers, I firmly believe there are outside variables at work (yes, POS, I mean you) that contribute to the delay in processing.  Still for all, in terms of the sampling here on this forum, they have really done much better with times since they started processing the 2010 files.

Yup I agree with SQ too and when ppl ask like they do atleast twice a day "any news yet?" "Well what's taking so long?" I pull the whole well processing times are such and such. I can't wait to be able to answer them with an answer of "he'll be here in a few days". I swear I day dream all day what its gonna be like picking him up from the airport and finally being a family. Can't wait for that day!!!

Aww it will soon happen Mrs Proper. I always cheer myself up by thinking it will get to a point eventually where it HAS to come through...so there is always an end to this process. And I always hate that Im living a life with my husband.....a wife and mother and every time i visit Canada I have to come alone as if I was single. I daydream everywhere I go of what it would be live doing it with my family here!

I think we have to keep our expectations broad. Count on sixteen or seventeen months...then anything that comes before is a blessed surprise. Its a process with no pattern...and setting your expectations sooner is a set up for stress, heartache and disappointment in my opinon. I am doing that now...I think ok by next summer we will be through or close to based on the timeline. So this way anything before would be such a beautiful and amazing surprise.

One of my best friends works at immigration in Canada and she told me in the beginning not to get my hopes up regarding timelines because every day she see's couples come through from all over the world and she says it about blows her mind to see some of the people they let through and how quick they get through. She says there really is no fairness in the process...its all a process of chance really. Who gets your file and how quick a worker they are, how quickly your medicals go through. All these things are random in how quick they happen. Then if you meet the criteria you will get through..but the criteria doesn't always fully depend on how genuine your marriage is because if your not at an interview...they can't fully determine if its genuine if there is no obvious red flags! So she says you just ignore others cases and know that your own will go through providing you meet the criteria. Comparing cases is a set up for frusteration!

I mean I've been married to my husband for several years before we ever decided to file...I had everything in place from jobs to go to...a home to move into...vehicles to drive when we get back to Canada as well as a normal life here where we both work. I had every possible bit of proof that our relationship was genuine....i can't imagine sending in a more solid  and honest case. The amount of letters of support I sent in....including one from my best friend who works for immigration. Yet about about four years ago before I even understood immigration a girl I know of in Canada got through in four months. She met her husband hustling on the beach in Negril...they got married quick...he didn't even treat her good. I just found out yesterday they just got a divorce..ironically right after his papers came through to be a citizen. He fathered two children with another girl behind her back in those years....and shes left in the dust. He told her he used her. Its very sad!! This is only one of many stories I've heard or witnessed in others where the final outcome of the marriage was devestating!!

Then you see the Propers and Ebony and her man...two couples who  so clearly to me are as genuine as they come..yet look at the wait time. As well as other including myself and y'all on here...whose marriages are one hundred percent genuine and love based...who are not guranteed a quick process in any way.

So clearly its random as far as the process...so getting our expectations higher than the timeline is really a set up for disappointment and frusteration. I'm attempting to keep that thought in my head to avoid unnessassary frusteration...although Im not sure I can avoid a bit of disappointment if it takes that long!
