Again...Thank goodness for this!! Its not something just "anyone" can relate to.. the loneliness, the anxiety, frusteration you go through during this process.. It feel kinda unfair when you look at it from the big picture.. were just peole who want to be with our loved ones... why is that EVEN a process... but what can you do, cant fight the system so gotta grin and bear it!! Im super happy to have found support though... thanks again!! Wink

LOL, the grin and bear it route is by far easier on the nerves and sanity!  And you're very right, if someone hasn't been through it, they can't really relate, that's why it's great to be around others who are going through it too, or "been there and done that" and are willing to help you along the way.

The papers he received are the Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR).  He is NOT to sign or change these papers in any way until he arrives to land.  The immigration officer who lands him will direct him where to sign.

The B4 form is for goods he is bringing to land with him, he must list any personal possessions that would normally be taxable on importation, such as jewellery, electronics and so on.  The jewellery should be appraised/valued, and electronics should be listed by serial number.  If he is shipping anything after him, he uses the B4A, which is for Goods to Follow.  Same thing, he lists valuables separately, and groups any ordinary items like clothing, books, etc.  You can find the B4 here: http://www.cbsa.gc.ca/publications/forms-formulaires/b4-eng.pdf

He only receives a waiver on the taxes on importation of his personal effects, the weight of his bagagge is for the airlines to charge.

Thanks CharlieD this is very helpful.

Ked: he is taking carribean airlines

Good evening Forum Family!

I have been away for quite a few months now, but I needed the time off. Didn't want my negativism to affect you guys.
Well I'm now on the positive side. 19 months and counting... my time will come!

Grats to everyone that went through!

YardieMy! How marvelous to hear from you!  Thanks for checking in, and I can assure you, the break time is well understood.  Everyone has their day, and it's a matter of holding on until it comes, no matter how long it delays.  I hope aside from this prolonged wait, all else goes well with you and yours.
