Hooray Irving!  Hotter than ten...bahaha!  Reminds me of a line from The Princess and the Frog, "I'm sweating like a sinner in church!" LOL!!

SQ, is the restaurant Chilitos by any chance?

LOL, when my husband is here we order pizza for dinner maybe once a week.  He's very fussy about his pizza, though, because when he was young one of his first jobs was at a pizza place.  I find I have been spoiled when it comes to pizza, having lived in NY.  It seems like nowhere else can you find pizza like they make there, at those little mom-and-pop type pizza places!  I am a meat pizza person though, pile it high with the artery clogging stuff!

Yup CharlieD...thats the Mexican place!!! Yummmmmmmmyyy..its not as good as say going to the US and getting REAL Mexican food like shredded chicken tacos with refried beans and rice and warm salty chips with salsa.....but its still pretty darn good!!

LOL..but it helps me stick to weight loss to be so far away from most my temptation foods!! Although when I firstttt started eating healthy and avoiding bad food...Ben and Jerrys icecream was the one thing I could get anywhere here...and I had to turn a blind eye and pretend I didn't see it in the freezers at the supermarket!!

Now my food weakness is mangos and whole wheat wheat thin crackers!

good morning everyone!!  TGIF and happy long weekend to those in Canada  Grin

sorry it's been awhile, been real busy lately but I'm finally off work on maternity leave woo hoo!!!   Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

congrats to all those with updates!  nice to see KG is still working.  Let's hope they start banging out those visa's now that summer is pretty much over...last year they were on fire working like crazy from September onward.  I hope to see the same trend this year.

SQ - well said...on both posts!

canuck - great song! lol  boy that brought back some memories hahahahaha  really happy you brought that one up  Cheesy

I'm with you mrs p...I don't like sushi either.  I think we talked about this awhile back LW and charlie...I said I'd stay back and dine with the boys and send my hubby with you for dinner lol  He hasn't tried it but I'm sure he wouldn't mind it.  He is very open minded to try new things and likes mostly everything.

OMG someone mentioned pizza!  mmmmm I love pizza but can't eat much of it lately...on a special diet for glucose intolerance and pizza is hard to incorporate into it.  But I do love the pizza from the Bobsled place in Mobay...mmmmm delicious!  it's like the pizza you get in the USA which you can't get here in Canada....well at least that I can find lol

Morning and TGIF!  Happy Labour Day weekend to everyone in Canada!

Hey nae!  Hope we are not tempting you away from your diet with all this food talk, LOL.  Hooray for mat leave!  I bet you are looking forward to meeting the lil one, but don't rush it, enjoy the quiet time until she arrives!

Hmm, going to have to put you and Mrs P in a corner with Mr lonely_wife, Nae! LOL.  Food is like music, I find.  You love what you love, and there is no accounting for taste, haha!

September means KG picks up speed, just like last year, I hope.  Sometimes I wonder if they don't do it on purpose, bang out the apps during the fall and winter so you have Jamaicans landing in Canada in weather many of us are totally unaccustomed to.  Roll Eyes  Whatever the reason, let's GO, KG, let's GO!  NEEXXXXTTTTT!!!

Sooo true, Sassyoneil!  We've missed a couple birthdays, and haven't had a Christmas together yet, but I know others have missed way more.  The good news is...there will be many many more to come once everyone is reunited.  Hooray!

Why is it only 10:00  Shocked I have a bunch of books at home calling my name!  Tongue

Hey Charlie if u are an avid book lover like me you would like my new favorite thig. I bought a Kobo (an e-reader) and I LOVE it!!! It holds 1000 books and it is easy on the eyes. When I movved back to Canada I realized I had over 12 large boxes of books in storage, this new toy is really coming in handy as I already have 112 books on it !

And Happy friday hope you guys are right about some action on the horizon really soon. Although I am still not convinced that the IOs are addicted to tetris or solitaire OR mabe they all got KOBOs Lol (Kingston if you are reading this I am totally joking I know you have been working super hard all summer

Good morning and TGIF eh. So whats everyone up to this long weekend, hopefully Ked is on her way to JA and creating a new chapter in her life.
Here is a little tale to share with those individuals that just gotta compete with you
This is something to think about when negative people are doing their best
to rain on your parade. So remember this story the next time someone who
knows nothing and cares less tries to make your life miserable.

A woman was at her hairdresser's getting her hair styled for a trip to
Rome with her husband.. She mentioned the trip to the hairdresser, who responded:

" Rome ? Why would anyone want to go there? It's crowded and dirty..
You're crazy to go to Rome . So, how are you getting there?"

"We're taking Continental," was the reply. "We got a great rate!"

"Continental?" exclaimed the hairdresser. " That's a terrible airline.
Their planes are old, their flight attendants are ugly, and they're always
late. So, where are you staying in Rome ?"

"We'll be at this exclusive little place over on Rome's Tiber River called Teste."

"Don't go any further. I know that place. Everybody thinks its gonna be
something special and exclusive, but it's really a dump."

"We're going to go to see the Vatican and maybe get to see the Pope."

"That's rich," laughed the hairdresser. You and a million other people
trying to see him. He'll look the size of an ant.

Boy, good luck on this lousy trip of yours. You're going to need it."

A month later, the woman again came in for a hairdo. The hairdresser
asked her about her trip to Rome.

"It was wonderful," explained the woman, "not only were we on time in one
of Continental's brand new planes, but it was overbooked, and they bumped
us up to first class. The food and wine were wonderful, and I had a
handsome 28-year-old steward who waited on me hand and foot.

And the hotel was great! They'd just finished a $5 million remodeling
job, and now it's a jewel, the finest hotel in the city. They, too, were
overbooked, so they apologized and gave us their owner's suite at no extra charge!"

"Well," muttered the hairdresser, "that's all well and good, but I know
you didn't get to see the Pope."

"Actually, we were quite lucky, because as we toured the Vatican, a Swiss
Guard tapped me on the shoulder, and explained that the Pope likes to meet
some of the visitors, and if I'd be so kind as to step into his private
room and wait, the Pope would personally greet me.

Sure enough, five minutes later, the Pope walked through the door and
shook my hand! I knelt down and he spoke a few words to me."

"Oh, really! What'd he say?"

He said: "Who f @ #$% up your hair?"

Canuck..that's a good story!... moral of the story..people need to mind them own business!! If she wasn't so nosey and negative she would be focus on what she was doing and not trying to rain on someone parade..

Too many people now a days all they care about is to bring down people..

Bahahaha canuck!!  Gotta love it when it's funny AND has a moral to it.

RG - I am thinking about getting an e-reader, but I am waiting on the prices to come down, LOL.  I am dropping some really heavy hints about what I want for Christmas in the meantime!  Tongue Currently I stick with audiobooks, I find it very relaxing to have someone read to me, so it's perfect for some of the genres I like to read.  At heart though I can be really old-fashioned...I love the smell of new books, and old books.

Good morning everyone, my allergies are keeping me up 2night-- wow worst allergy day all year! Glad I found forum tho! I'm still at the starting point, just got married in July in Jamaica & haven't put the papers in yet cuz we're saving for medical & application fee. Is there a "good time" to send in ur app? Someone told me nothing happens in JA durinring the months of December & January is this true??? I was a student when I got married and looking for permanent work now--do I have to work full time to sponsor??? I see abbreviations on this site like AOP and POS...I'm so confused!! Can someone hold my hand?   Huh

good morning everyone!

welcome lovehasnoboundaries!  you've come to the right place for help.  I'm going to help our our resident expert charlieD today and answer your questions  Grin  In my opinion there is no "good time" to send in your application.  The summer months are a bit slow for some yet we've seen some action this summer.  I'd say, send it in as soon as your ready and make sure your medical and police check are done as close to submitting your application as possible. The medical expires in 1 year and the police check must be no longer than 3 months old when you file your app (it also expires in 1 year).  December and January were very busy months last year!  we saw a lot of passport requests (PPR), my husband's was requested on Jan 4/11....so no, that's not true.  KG works very hard during December.  You do not have to work full time to sponsor but you cannot be on social assistance.  KG may however ask how you plan on supporting your spouse once he is here so hopefully you will find something soon.  (If I'm wrong about that, someone please correct me)  You must request an Option C printout from Revenue Canada to submit with your application.  If you haven't already requested that, call them and request they send it to you at 1-800-959-8281.  You should receive it in about 7 days or so.

as for abbreviations...AOR is Acknowledgement of Receipt letter received from KG after they receive your husband's application.  KG is known for not sending these out...some get one, some don't and most recently someone received information that this letter is not sent until the application is finalized.  POS is Port of Spain office...medical results are sent there for evaluation.

I hope the above helps.

Hello and welcome LHNB (sorry, that name is too long to type!).  There's plenty of info around, you just need to know where to look and who to ask.

First, you don't need to be working full-time to sponsor your husband, because there is no minimum income requirement for sponsoring your spouse.  With that said, though, you need to know that CIC will want to know how you plan to support yourselves and fulfill your responsibilities as a sponsor.  So have that in mind when you prepare your application.

Second, KG's quiet time actually seems to be the summer.  I've been on this forum about a year now, very little seems to have happened in the summer months before I joined, and then things picked up around September and people began rolling out that I found on the forum waiting.  There has been a slow down since April or so this year, we've had a couple applications closed but they have been waiting quite some time!

Abbreviations abound in the process, this is government we're dealing with, after all.  Don't worry, they will come to you after a while.  For now, AOR = Acknowledgement of Receipt, which is a letter the embassy will send to the applicant when they receive the application and create the file.  Don't worry, Kingston won't bother your husband with one, they haven't issued any to any applicant on the board for 2011!  Can't speak for anyone else, though.

POS refers to Port of Spain, Trinidiad, which is the Regional Medical Centre for the Caribbean and northern Latin American countries.  When your husband does his medical, the results will be sent there to be uploaded.

Hahaa, morning Nae! Thanks for the help out! Cheesy
