hmm scratching my head at why such a difference in pricing with dmp's.
Excluding the tattoo issue, my hubby paid $9000 for his meds in kingston and this
is apparently the standard rate or so i thought.

No standard fee, all of them charge slightly different fees. I am not sure what they base it on. I did know at the time the Ochie Dr was about 1000.00 or 1500.00 more than the foolfool Dr in Mobay but I wasnt gonna risk it.

Good morning everyone!

I do believe the doctor's charges for the medicals are similar, but where things vary widely is with the cost of the laboratory work.  The letter I got from them said that the cost should be $50CAD for the doctor but that laboratory fees would vary and I should confirm with the doctor the exact amount due when I made the appointment.  I remember shopping around for an MRI for my Mom and the cost variation between Kingston and Mobay was outrageous.  Even after paying for her to come to Kingston to do the MRI I still hadn't spent as much as I would to send her to Mobay to have it done.  Mobay and Ochie always seem to have higher rates for lab tests.

Well, it's Hump Day, so KG needs to get us over that hump with some good news today.  Let's GO, KG!!  NNNEEEXXXTTT!!!

LOL, not even going to start on Negril and how everything there manages to cost more than anywhere else in Jamaica!  I was born in Sav, went to school there since primary school and will always love it, but lord the fact that so many things you need you either have to go somewhere else or pay twice what everyone needs to burns me.  Negril makes so much in tax revenue and has so little in the way of infrastructure, and what is in Sav is not always up to par or you have to wait forever to get through! Grrr, not getting on that soapbox this morning.  Tongue

Trust me, I hear you and agree 100%..We feel that way in Bay, for being "the second city" it sure could use a fix up..what last year or the year before, They just got in the traffic lights...umm what year are we in, and yes it ease traffic, but come on!!! Even the strip want a fix up, everything is maaaaaad expensive, it is ridiculous. Ok, I have 10 mins til I officially am being paid to be atthis desk, so that is my soapboxing for me Smiley

Couldn't help but read all the comments regarding DMP fees in the various locations in JA. I think the fees you guys paid are about the same or even better than what i paid in Bdos. My overall fee was $365.00, where every $100.00 for me equals $4000.00 for you guys. there is only 1 DMP in Bdos, so everyone here will pay the same price.

Here in Bdos most people will know the prices charged by doctors as the prices are very similar wherever you go. Consultation fees are about $80 per visit and blood test are between $90-100 per test. xrays are $105.

Sav girl here and it so true, I hated that for every bloody thing we either had to get on a bus for hours or pay an arm or a leg for. And as for Negril, really and truly, that extra money is going into business owners pockets. The thing with Negril, Mobay and Ochi is that you will always hear the standardized answer, 'its a tourist area'.

I live in Mobay now and its now a washed out version of what it used to be. Business places closing down, buildings needing renovating.

Regarding the above statement
The last time I was in JA I was so surprised to see the amount of places that had closed down or have changed ownership ...it seems as if 90 percent of the islands businesses are now owned by non Jamaicans
What is going on with Jamaica..... not to get into politics but seems like the government really screw the residence dem out there .... Wow
