Keeping my PR status

My PR has been approved and I am waiting for my passports to be sent back.

I have recently got accepted for work in the US. I know that to keep the Permanent Residency permit, I have to stay a total of 3 years in Canada out of 5 years.

How is that calculated? Can I initially enter Canada for a week, then go back to the US to work for 2 years, then go back to Canada for the rest of 3 years and keep the PR?

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

In order to maintain PR status, in 5 year period you must live in Canada for at least 2 years

To be eligible for Canadian citizenship, you must have lived in Canada for at least three years (1,095 days) out of the four years (1,460 days) preceding your application. Please note that you cannot meet the residence requirements for citizenship without a minimum of two (2) years as a permanent resident.

You have to stay a total of 2 years in Canada in a 5 year period, not 3.  You can land as a PR and then leave right away.  You will not get your PR card but if you have friends or family in Canada, you can give their address for it to be mailed to them and they can then mail it to you.  If you don't, you can just say when you land that you are not ready to move yet and don't have an address so you will get the PR card later.
