Hi. It is not a crime once awarded a visa to decide not to go.

Basically, in order to keep residency, you have to land in Canada to validate the visa within 1 year from the date your took your medicals.

Then, it is renewable every 5 years, at which point you must have lived in Canada for 730 days (2 years) within that period.

If you fail to meet the conditions your residency status will simply "expire".

If you're not sure my advice is to still complete your record of landing, and then you can come back to your country and spend up to 3 years thinking about it before you need to commit to living in Canada (without your residency expiring).

Best of luck,
Wayne.

Congrats Ify. I second wayne to at least make your landing and have time to relocate later.... It is however exclusively your decision at the end of day... Many has been eagerly waiting years after year for this which might give you a feeling that you have just got a precious gateway which many wouldn't have missed at least to try for!!! All the best

Yes, Wayne and Fariza, let him first land and validate his visa. Go home and think deeply about it. This is because there is no point in moving and later you start regretting.

I am talking from experience, i have moved a little bit around and worked in different places, but till today i still miss one country i lived and worked in for 5 years. Even though i moved for other important reasons , but i still always miss that country.  I like moving forward and not backward. If i had liked moving backward i will go back to the country where i lived for 5 years.

Please think deeply, before moving finally.

That is a better idea. When you go to Canada try as much as you can to look around n your field , how to apply for jobs. Before you come back next year you must have arranged everything. opportunity comes but once. I am happy you are taking it.

Wish your family a safe journey.
