just need some help (almost done on application) thank you

First of all pardon me if my inquiry has been asked and answered before.
i just have a quick question regarding some matters. im almost done completing my wife's petition to come here in Canada.
one of the roadblocks for me is:

i cant find my record of landing or confirmation of permanent residence number,. i asked some people and they told me that i can just
photocopy both sides of my Permanent residence card and i should be ok. but upon further research i think it might hinder my application.
so. if i cant still find those papers should can i just really provide photocopies of my PR card? is it possible to just ask those numbers? or could i re apply on it?

also.. my permanent residence card is due to expire by June this year (2011) i am targeting of submitting my application around first week of april. is it advisable for me to renew it after i pass the petition? or do you think its better if i renew the PR card then apply for my Canadian citizenship aswell (im eligible already). what are the circumstances you see that will affect my application? i appreciate the help and insight about my situation. may God bless us all.
