Abu Dhabi is one of the longest processing time visa offices at 27 months for 80% of applicants (only Nairobi takes longer at 30 months). Thankfully not too many people go through there, which means fewer people to experience the excruciatingly long waits that exist thanks to CIC. Are you going through Abu Dhabi as part of your PR application?

Good morning ddobro2,

I am sponsoring my common law partner through abu dhabi. they asked for the landing fee in early october, and we thought the next step was the visa, since we supplied almost everything.

Then mid november they asked for more proof about our relation, which we supplied in 2 days, and ever since we didnt hear anything.

I am dying to be with my partner, and we're going crazy checking out mail and ecas every minute of the day. We're sooo in love, and we cant wait to hear something from them.

Asking for the RPRF fee and THEN asking for more evidence of the relationship? Bizarre. Asking for the landing fee means - or should mean - you are done with all the assessments - the medical, criminal, security, the genuineness of the relationship, and are ready to issue the visa. And do you know if you were waived an interview? You should consider ordering GCMS notes if you haven't already. Hopefully you'll get PPR in the month it takes them to arrive but if not, always good to have them.

Thanks ddobro,

They sent two emails in october. the 1st said when we are ready to issue you a visa, we'll ask your sponsor to pay the RPRF. in an hour they sent another email saying pay the RPRF with additional documents (passport copies of sponsor, tax slips, pay stubes...) we sent everything.

Then after a month and a half they asked for more documents and no emails since mid november Sad

whats GCMS and how to order them?

Thanks again

Read here: http://immipedia.ca/Ordering_FOSS_and_CAIPS_notes

You might also want to consider having your MP inquire with Abu Dhabi as to why they continued assessing your application following their request and receipt of the landing fee (CIC is required to respond to parliamentary requests, and are advised to do so within a matter or days).

Thanks ddobro.

I really appreciate it. I will check the CAIPS.

As for the MP, I am still a permanent resident in Toronto, so I doubt any MP will help me. Also from other blogs and discussion forums, I think Abu Dhabi Office really takes it personal if an MP contact them, and it might delay the application.

The Problem with the members applying through abu dhabi, once they get passport request, they dont update information on the forum anymore, so you dont have visibility if things worked out for them or not.

I just wish there is a way to see how applications are progressing through abu dhabi, besides the websites trackit.com.

It's all good. I believe the God and the Universe bring things at the right time but the frustration is killing us

Ok, well I would check the notes before seeking parliamentarian help anyway. How many months ago did you send it to Mississauga again? I don't see many threads about Abu Dhabi here in general, before or after getting passport requests. I presume that is in part because fewer people go through that visa office.

Since you're a PR, I wanted to ask if at the time you applied for permanent residence, you had informed CIC of your common law partner's existence so that CIC could examine whether s/he meets immigration requirements. If not, your common-law partner is in danger of being refused on the grounds that you, his or her sponsor, had not disclosed your relationship by the time that you landed in Canada and became a PR.

Thanks ddobro.

hi ddobro2,

thanks for replying to me Smiley

this is not the case, but even if it is, would they ask you for landing fee, and then after another 6 weeks, they ask for more proofs, and proofs submitted 2 months ago, still no update from them whatsoever.

The problem is that there is no way to know anything or to reach them. I am literally dying to be with my loved one.

All visa offices are different, unfortunately, and even within the same visa office, there is often a LOT of inconsistency. I know someone who was requested to pay her RPRF fee, paid it, and then her husband was denied a visa because they judged the relationship to not be genuine. The point is, until they ask for your passport to issue the visa, you're not home free.

Because you said you were a PR and not a citizen, I just wanted to verify that the issue I mentioned (failing to disclose the relationship before you land) is not applicable to you. There's been a lot of sponsors whose spouses were rejected due to that clause and unfortunately (and unlike when someone is rejected because CIC is not convinced the relationship is genuine), there's nothing you can do about it.

I'm sure you'll hear something soon. Be patient, order the notes in the meantime.

Thanks ddobro2,

I just wish anybody sponsoring through abu dhabi to update here their timelines, and whether any activity is happening in Abu Dhabi visa office since 2012 started just to have a feel if things are moving.

Again, many thanks. Have a great weekend

Yep, no problem. I trust you found the Abu Dhabi thread (or as much of a thread as you can call it given how few people post). Best wishes.
