Hi,

I am new to this forum.

I applied in June as well but am already working in Toronto. I was offered a permanent position at my company so applied to Buffalo under the skilled worker category.

Any idea how long processing at the Buffalo office will take?

I am also a Buffalo applicant fsw1.  They just updated timelines for all the VOs and Buffalo is at 23 months, but processing times for applications post june are not included.  But one can never tell, it depends on many things ie verification of documents, security checks, whether they will require an interview, volume of applicants in a VO and staffing etc.  Following some of the spreadsheets on the forum is seems that people that applied in August & Sept of 2010 are now nearing the end of the process with PPR.  But I also saw a Buffalo applicant on the spreadsheet that process was completed in a year.  Good luck, and hope for a quick process for all.

Yeah I applied June 2011 so I fall under the post June 2010 section..

Hoping it comes out within the 6 - 12 month period as I see on most websites and forums.

I submitted all supporting documents so am hoping my PR comes out within the next 7 months.

Whether you are taking him to Canada or not (more on it later), you need to inform the VO about the change in your family. Probably will need to send another form (such as the Addl Family Info) on his behalf. Contact VO or go thru some documentation to get more info on this.

Now coming on to whether you should take him to Canada or not.. firstly, its your own decision that you need to take yourself. According to me, if it is possible, may be you can leave him in India for sometime till you 2 can get settled over there, get some job and all... may be few months or a year.
Congratulations anyways! Smiley

I read this somewhere:

Myth: Employers can't give references beyond just confirming your title and dates of employment.

Fact: Giving detailed, honest references is legal. It's true that some companies, in an effort to avoid the headache of nuisance lawsuits, have implemented policies that they'll only confirm dates of employment and title. As a result, many people have come to believe that it's actually illegal to give a bad reference. But corporate policies aren't the law. They're often not even followed by the companies that have them. It's both legal and common for employers to give detailed references--and a surprising number of references are either lukewarm or bad.

Hey guys, what do you say on telephone check ups from the embassy on your companies?
