Yes Wayne , now there is only one checklist, they have done away with VO specific checlkist. The new one covers everything (all supporting docs which were earlier only on the VO checklist).
Yeah absolutely Wayne. And they did so to speed up the process. And its a good change.

No, they are not must. That applies only for translated copies. Certified true copies are described in this page but CIC does not ask for certified copies anywhere. They just ask for copies.

Cool I have just been reading through it. It is SOOOO much better now there is just one checklist and everyone has to submit the same thing. Easier for CIO to check as well since the checking is now completely uniform so they can be more consistent. Also had a look at the new generic application for which is much better, especially with the drop-downs and the validation option. The only thing which disappoints me about the new sets of forms is that the "Your Travels" form is STILL not computer fillable!!! Wayne.

dude, plz don't mix it with paragraph written for translations. trust me it is still must to notrised/attest. its general rule/principal, where ever you offically submit copies of documents internationaly these must be notrised and if withen country then mest be attested.

Lahoree is right. I believe notarized copy is a must for those docs that are not needed to be original when submitting. In page 20 of EG7 even though the word " notarized" was not mentioned, the instruction for having a photocopy is clearly meant having the docs notarized. And also "Translation of documents" and "Certified true copies" are two different independent topics explained in page 20 of EG7. Just my two cents...

You guys are spreading anxiety for no reason. Are u telling me now everybody needs certified copies for everything??? Like passport, which is already translated? You definitely don't understand the instructions. You only need certified copies and certified translations for documents in a different language. To better prove this, the US, where I now reside, doesn't offer any kind of notarized copies, except for birth/marriage certificate. No public notary will ever certify a copy as True copy because all kinds of legal issues.
NKKD Cartoons is exactly correct in what he's saying. Some people should read the rules thoroughly before expressing opinions on a public forum.

When we say notary..it means "subscribed" and sworn to.. when we say certified true copies..the source of the docs must stamped a "certified true copy" on it. so when you xerox your passport..It can cause you too much hassle just by going to the DFA etc just for them to put a certified true copy stamp..
