Hey There,

We were initially told that we needed to include a joint statement, written by both of us stating our story and how we met etc., and also that we needed 6 letters (3 each) from family and friends stating that we are indeed a genuine couple.  I can't seem to find this on any of the check lists.  Is it still required for a spousal application?

If by spousal u mean married notarized letters are not rquired but if u r applying as commom law under spousal sponsorship then u need 2 notarized letters the relationship essay as they have been dubbed is completely optional for both married or common law the part where u would have seen this is where they ask for "any other reasons u think ur relationship is genuine and continuing" that's the essay part

Good luck

Who told you this? You could use this sort of evidence, but it is not required. The "joint statement, written by both...how we met etc." is probably covered under question 9 of the Sponsored partner questionnaire (Relationship development/history). You can always include letters of support, and it is required to submit at least two notarized letters if you are common-law or conjugal. We included 4 notarized declaration letters, plus about 8 non-notarized ones, because we wanted to submit lots of proof in that area, but it's definitely not the norm.

Thanks everyone! We're already married. So if I'm understanding you correctly, we don't really need them, but if we put them in the application it always helps, right?

We were initially using an agency, but in 3 months they haven't even helped us finalise our application, we suspect they're fraudsters, so we've dumped them! Luckily we never signed the use of representative form so we can just hand in our own application.  They asked us for lots of extra stuff, now we wonder why...
