Hi All,
I am a Periodontist from non accredited dental school working as a faculty  in a dental institute my country my wife is a dentist too, we have applied for PR status and awaiting interview or medical at our visa post country. Can some one tell me how should i search for jobs as faculty  for me to get jobs in Canada, since i understand its is a non regulated field and also have heard  the most lucrative jobs are in this field, have been trying faculty jobs since last one year from my country and all I have got is no reply though I have years of experience and number of research's to my name as principal investigator. My immigration lawyer has just given me some job site links but its not helping me. Help of advise or some guidance as to how we go about this.   Sad   anyone who knows about this field

Seriously, this is a very difficult question. I will attempt to be as polite as possible, the the factual reality is we require credentials. Although your work experience does count for something, having a PhD from a respectable school is really what is needed. This is most likely the main reason why ur having such a difficult time getting a response. We seldom even reply to those with PhDs unless their research and where they graduated is respectable.

A lot of this is also who you know, so this said, i would try to touch base with maybe someone u met at a conference that works in canada and try to get them to bring u in and give a faculty talk.

Either way, good luck!!!

dear blue19,

...would help? ...is an understatement Grin

rather, it is the only way out.
if you read this forum thoroughly, you will realise that faculty jobs are one of the most difficult to get in canada unless you are from some world renowned exceptionally well known university. much as we hate to hear it, thats a fact and so all of us inspite of being highly qualified and experienced will have to go through the gruelling process of re-registering our degrees with the respective canadian regulating authorities. but dentists have excellent potential once you get licensed.

cheers, all the best.

Dear Blue19,

" I am a Periodontist from non accredited dental school working as a faculty  in a dental institute my country"

If you have obtained your degree from non-accredited college as you have indicated above, I am sorry to say that but your application for Canada PR will be rejected in the first place. Your education program must be accredited in the country you have obtained it, otherwise it is considered as a “diploma mill.” Even genuine degrees from accredited universities are sometimes denied by VO, and the VO is very serious about this.

Sorry for the harsh words but this is the reality.
