I  don't think updated means it should be  very recent , if they needed recent letters I think they would say like for PCC as should be of 3 months , but in my view updated  means needs to contain all the specification as mentioned in the guidelines.

Hi, i would humbly disagree with this... why? because if you are claiming points for a job you did 5 years back and what of company changed their premises, contact details than only an updated letter would give VO all said details for verifications.

Current date will be fine. Do not use any previous collection dates. Your current date will suggest as Canadian High Commission has requested you for those letters and you are gathering them accordingly. You can collect letters from your previous employers anytime. However, the duration of work period must be mentioned on your letter.

Obviously, once you have worked in different places by your national insurance number or P45 it will be easily verified. The only thing CHC wants to know your letters are not fake, you have worked in those places and performed the job duties.

If you have already collected a letter from an organisation and company does not exist anymore that is also acceptable. Attach a covering letter and explain the situation in detailed regarding company's existence.
