Job Profile: Consultant, any scope?

Hi All,

I had previously applied as Software Engineer in March, 2008 under FSW program. Unfortunately my case got rejected with reason that software engineers are not in demand anymore.

I changed job last year and now I am working as "Consultant" in a reputed software company. To be precise my designation is "Associate Consultant". Is this job profile there in 38 NOC list. Would like to know if anyone applied under same and got through.

I am very dissapointed due to a rejection already. Would be great if someone could help me out.

There is only ONE IT related but managerial occupation - 0213.
Check the main duties and see if they apply to you.

IT Manager position, which is in the 38 NOC is a position most likely held by an individual with atleast 4 years of IT experience. Also, note the emphasis is on a Managerial position, not any technical position held for 4 years...Hope this helps. You can also check the CIC site for more info.

Manpreet......the list of 38 occupations has only IT Managers in your case.
I guess it does not match for you. I would suggest not to waste your time and money on it, especially do not get into the false hope from the immigration consultants/agents.

Well, thank you all for your responses.

But I have decided to give it another try. I did not apply through a consultant last time and neither will I do so this time.

Will file my application again under the new NOC and put my current job responsibilities against the same.

we have a forum member here who goes by the name aanbaan and his job title is a Consultant. he applied and he has received PPR from CHC ND. the catch is that your duties should match with the duties of 0213. his duties matched, so he succeeded. if yours too match, then give it a try.

as per my knpwledge consultant is not a highly demanded occupations as per 38 hot occupations
