JOb offer in Canada, in for LMo but husband has Hep C

My husband is a Construction PM. He has a job offer in Edmonton and the employer has put in for an LMO. We are in America. Does he need medicals? If so what are his chances with Hep C. He is healthy and has had no liver damage according to his liver biopsy. He has never been sick from it either. We still dont know how he got it other than maybe through a tattoo years ago. He just found out he had it 2 years ago.

He will be required to go for medical & Hepatitis C might or might not refuse him as hepatits C is contagious. it is most often spread through contact with blood or blood products that have been infected with the hepatitis C virus. While hepatitis C is contagious and can be spread through contact with infected blood, you cannot get hepatitis C from a kiss or from other normal everyday activities such as hugging, shaking hands, or even sharing eating utensils.However,As far as i know only AIDS & Tuberculosis is a barrier against immigration. Anyway, is he just a carrier of hepatitis C or he has active hepatitis?

He is active as far as I understand. We have been married 18 years, I don't have it neither do the kids. He has been vaccinated against the other Hep . forms as well. What should he do as far as medicals? take his past medical results in, like biopsy and such? He really is not at risk for transmission to others given his job is not related to anything having to do with close contact or anything medical.

You say your husband's prospective employer has applied for an LMO, which means that he will be applying for a temporary work permit (not a permanent resident visa).

In many cases, temporary foreign workers do not need medical exams; however, if you decide to eventually apply for permanent residence, it is required of all applicants - since you have posted in this forum for permanent residence applicants, I believe Dr. Hasib may have been confused.

You say you are "in America" but don't say if either of you are US Citizens.  If so, you will not need a medical exam for a temporary work permit (unless for some reason you are instructed to get one by the visa officer).

Sorry about that, should clarify. Yes we are US citizens and a PR would be the eventual goal. If we are there for awhile and working and then try to get the PR would we be asked to leave for his Hep. C?
