Hello All

As a part of landing process(for accompanying goods/good to follow),it seems we need to get the jewellery valuation done

However I contacted few jewellers and none of them are ready to write it on a paper with their stamp. Also I have not been able to find any authorized person who can do this

Please let me know if it's mandatory to get the valuation done and have the papers for the same.

Alternately,I am planning to carry the jewellery pics and will put some value based on current market prices

Please advise..

cheers!

Self valuation is enough. No need for valuation from any jewellers. See the market rate and multiply with the weight.
It is mandatory to put valuation or you would be spending too much of time spent to calculating at the time of landing.

Hi, I guess we know from trackitt!! This is Jerry2121..Congrats!!! I will do what explorer101 said.. Don't stress over it by going to a jeweller and all that..
Quick question: Are u going to exchange some money in the canada currency before arrival? Just wondering if I should pay the U.S currency to their bank when I open one and they will convert it to their currency.. What do u think?

Wishing u smooth landing!

keep part of your  usd as usd and change when you better get an idea of how things are here and when it fluctuates...
the exchange rates vary and you can know where to make a better deal after you land than as soon as you land ..

all banks here accept usd and allow you to open usd accts . eg rbc you can open an acct for as little as 2$ a month.
the rate now is close to par .. but it fluctuates .. also all big shops here take usd so you are good ....

USD is weaker now.
better taking CAD.
Most shops in Toronto accepts USD. They don't even bother.
