sis! a lot people are quite frustrated na sa CIC dahil sa kabagalan. hindi ko na mga macontain yung kakungkutan ko na wala pa ring approval. =(

What determines how long the visa expiry date will be?  I heard that it would be a year from your medical check or it would be the expiry date of the passport (whichever comes first) but what if it takes more than a year to process the application for permanent residence? 

Yes you have one year from the date of your medical to enter Canada. However, your passport must also be valid at the same time. If timing is getting close, or you expect it to be close, renew your passport or get a new medical which automatically gets sent in by doc and hopefully matched up quickly with your file.

If you track the news - the new federal budget of Canada had budget cuts which impacted all federal agencies - including Immigration. There are layoffs announced everywhere in the government - local provincial news are also showing there are effects on the programs for the provincial governments. At this point all the agencies are in a state of adjustment over the new budget and how they will continue to operate. The CIC is just one of them - so until they finally adjust to these changes, they may still move a a very slow pace.

If you look at our applications - they are moving but not at our desired pace. Think of the pre-2008 applicants whose applications will be returned after years of waiting - how frustrated are they?. We are at this time, much better off compared to them.

Unfortunately - we can only wait. All of us have come so far now... waiting is a challenge, but hope always never fades....
