PLEASE HELP!!!! Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked

i'm not sure how things work there but in other countries any document which is not in English or in French needs to be oficially translated....in some countries the translators r part of an order and r recognized by the gouverment, the translated document has official stamp, etc, so it's as good as a notarized one....if ur certificate is not in English nor in French u did translate right? maybe it's enough....u should see what other ND members did

yes we sent a copy of our original marriage certificate (we got married in England, everything is in English), but it is not notarized!!! did you notarize your marriage certificate? we also have a "non availability of birth certificate" document in Hindi that needs to be translated, we went to lawyers, didnt work, we are thinking about going to college professor/teacher?

thanks again Smiley

Hi Everyone!

Got my ppr today, May 15. Our File was received by CEM Manila last May 4, 2012 and the date of the ppr letter is May 8. i was asked for the passport of course and additional pictures. ill have my picture taken tomorrow morning and ill send my passport in the afternoon.

on my way to work this morning, i saw the mailman but did not bother to stop and ask him (yes, we can do that in the Philippines Cheesy) if there is a letter for me. i was just thinking if that may be a premonition on my upcoming ppr letter.

so when i got home this evening, our building doorman handed me 2 letters. the first letter was a credit card billing statement and that kinda pissed me off. hehehe. but the second one was the one from embassy so hurray to that.  Smiley

hope everyone here gets the wishes of their hearts! God Bless!

We had our marriage license notarized.  The original is included with the translated copy within the little booklet they gave us at the notary public.  In fact, we had all important documents notarized (marriage license, our son's birth certificate, police certificate, joint bank account contract, my wife's 'hukou' booklet, my wife's birth certificate, and my income tax statement from the Chinese tax authorities).

I'm guessing since you were married in England, and the license is in English, you won't need a translation or a notarized copy.

As for the translation, would it be possible for you to get a statement from the lawyer you contacted?  I mean, if you can get the lawyer to write an explanation as to why he/she was unwilling to translate, you could include that with your own explanation.  As for the professor translating it, I don't know, but if they are willing to do it, go for it.  You could also contact some translation companies to see if they are willing to do it...just a translation...we found a translation company here in China and they said they would basically translate anything...for a fee, of course.  If you show you have done everything in your power to get a certified translation, I can't see why CIC wouldn't accept it.

Good luck...don't worry...

My file was transferred to ND on April 5, it's May 15 (1 month 5 days) today and we still haven't gotten our PPR. It's anyone's guess when they send PPRs, but for most it's between 2 and 3 weeks. Hang in there for a week more and you should have it.

I haven't gotten approval yet but I'm seeing "application received" when I log onto ecas with my UCI number. Anyone know how long it should be until I get the approval email? I got AOR email last week, Thursday.

I thought I was going to be approved a few days after AOR when it actually took over a month.

Like miss mini suggested, check out our spreadsheet it's the bestway to get some idea of whats going on.
