Thanks Gemini!
My husband is from Serbia. I have heard from friends, who too have sponsored their husbands from Serbia, that it took them 6 months. Keep in mind this was a few years back, however, I am hopeful that he arrives before summer Smiley

Hi Gemini... My wife's from the Slovak Republic.. It's a visa exempt country, so hopefully things will go smoothly... Also about the medical exam... The doctor told me that they do the tests in their office.. and then everything is sent to ottawa to be checked out... Then the results are forwarded to the appropriate visa office... So if you do this ahead of time.. there should be no waiting at the visa office that receives your papers, since it's there before.. perhaps they ask for a medical exam when the first medical exam hasn't arrived there yet?  Not sure, but perhaps!  As long as the medical tests are done within 3 months of you submitting your papers to CIC... then you're ok... 3 months is the cut off.. and the results are good for 1 year... from what I read here... 1 year should be enough for a majority of the cases.

My husband is Serbian as well! Smiley  We finally got our applications finished and sent to Mississauga and they arrived January 6th.  He did his medicals a while ago and they are waiting in London.
We've been doing alot of research on this visa stuff and I've seen Serbians getting it within a few months, provided all goes well.  I hear that the military background stuff can complicate things....

Good to hear other people are sponsoring Serbian men:) I couldn't find any info in regards to the medical exam, so he filled out Appendix C and we sent it with application assuming Vienna office would provide further details, as mentioned on CIC. Hopefully that and the military background don't prolong this process! Did you receive an email from Mississauga stating they received your application? Or do we only receive a letter in the mail stating if we were approved/declined? Thanks!

I dont know if this is the right thread to ask this question.
My common law partner is an canadian, but have not live in Canada for the last 10 years. Due to his dad's work and study. He will not have medical insurance for the first 3 months. Does anybody have any suggestion of insurance for him and me as a visitor? We are planning to move back in late March this year.

Good luck to everyone here.

Hi All!

I googled forums where I could find peoples stories, in regards to PR processing times. I am so relieved to see that I am not the only one going through this process Smiley I applied on January 23 to Mississauga's office. I am the sponsor and my husband's application will be going to Vienna. I am SO nervous, I go online everyday to check and see if our application is in CIC's system (fully knowing it is too early Smiley).
I had a question about the Medical Exam...does the Consulate office call and request a medical exam? or does the person being sponsored arrange this with a designated physician in their appropriate country? Any information in regards to this topic would help! Thanks  Smiley

for sponsorship application it's required to send the medical exam from the beginning to Missisauga; it is speeding the process for the long run
