Hello to all my fellow members,
Lets gather here to discuss the Software job market trend in Canada. What technologies are in Demand for 2011-2012. How are the opportunities for Telecom Business Analysts, Software Testers and CCNA jobs.

Also does an Indian Bachelors in Engineering Degree in Computer Science directly qualify as Canadian Education equivalent.Or do we need to take any additional steps.

I am currently on an L1 Visa in the USA.I would rather apply for Canadian PR, than apply for an H1B and wait several years for a green card.(My spouse is listed for the 2011 NOC,and has applied as the Primary Applicant)

Lets discuss here.Pour in your thoughts.

Please refer current 29 NOC list:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/apply-who-instructions.asp

Remember now every year NOC list will going to change as per current immigration situation.
if you want to wait to look new NOC list then try to wait upto june 2011. may be IT or similar will come back but still nobody knows.
As per current situation IT experience don't apply, please look the mentioned NOC list if you or your spouse qualified then go for that NOC.

your spouse can be a Primary applicant but experience should be match with NOC.

Where did you hear the NOC list will change? The only thing CIC have announce so far is changes to the points matrix. It will be reviewed as a matter of course, but it doesn't necessarily mean it will change that much, if at all.

Please remember the current list has only been active for 1 year.

Hi All,

Please have a look at the following news posted on this very website in April.

http://www.canadavisa.com/news/entry/canadas-it-industry-to-face-labour-shortages-110404.html

The period 2011-2016 anticipates ample opportunities for IT professionals.

Thanks.

Yes there have been a lot of rumours of IT shortages.

But this is not the first time. A few years ago there were similar shortage reports, but instead of including IT professions on the in-demand list, they brought out the IT worker program - which enabled IT workers to get temporary work permits without requiring an LMO. But they also made it very clear that this method could not be used to gain permanent residency.

For some reason they seem reluctant to allow IT professionals to permanently emmigrate - I suspect because the IT job market can be very volatile and whereas one year there can be severe shortages, within a few years the picture can change drammatically.

We shall have to see. If they think there will be 100,000+ IT jobs emerging in the next 5 years without sufficient Canadian citizens or residents to fill them, then they may consider adding IT related NOC categories back onto the list for a year or two.

Mukund, I did "read each line" and "each point carefully". I suggest you do the same to my post, since clearly you have not. Although your English sounds quite poor, so perhaps you merely misunderstood what I wrote?

You said "Remember now every year NOC list will going to change as per current immigration situation." I was pointing out that it would not necessarily change. My exact words were "Where did you hear the NOC list WILL change?". I did not say "Where did you hear the NOC list has been changed?"

The current list has been out for only one year. Therefore I believe it's possible, even probable, that on 1st July 2011 the list will either not change at all, or the changes will be minimal. The only thing CIC has actually announced it a likely change to the points matrix, not a change to the list of occupations. Of course, the list will be reviewed, but that's not the same thing. We shall of course have to see, but I don't think you can yet say that the list will definitely change.

And your incinuation that I am in a "hurry to gain my post for VIP member" is, frankly, insulting. I am at IT professional (I have been a software developer commercially for over 13 years) so this thread of is particular interest to me.
